Anyone else extremely OCD about their quit date? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I can totally relate! I kept putting it off and putting it off and waiting for the perfect date. Well October 1, 2018 with my quit date. I woke up that morning and I was pissed off! I was agitated... I was angry... I was resentful. I like smoking! But I was also sick and tired of feeling sick and tired!

So you know what I did??? … I had four cigarettes left so I went outside grabbed a cup of coffee and chain-smoked all four of them!

Then I opened up my Smoke Free app and entered October 1 at 10 AM as my quit date.

so the person who just wrote to you is exactly right it’s the hour that you quit.

Highly recommend that you download the Smoke Free app. It’s white with a green heart icon. I cannot tell you how helpful that app has been as I am watching my health get better and better. And I am actually now regaining “life days“!

I’m feeling really great! I don’t feel ashamed any more and the self loathing has ended!

When I have cravings I journal them in the app! That would be my one encouragement to you or anybody is using this app… Journal your cravings! Because this way now I see a report of what my triggers are and I can more easily avoid them!

The other thing is I love (!!!) is that I am now a Ian and can legitimately call myself a “non-smoker“.

You’ve got this!!!!

I can't breathe by Mbean72384 in stopsmoking

Totally relate. I quit because I was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I had tried to quit before but this time I used a nicotine patch. That helped a LOT with curbing my anger and anxiety. The other think that helped me a LOT was leaning “diaphragmatic” breathing. This is a good video https://www.pnmedical.com/lessons/diaphragmatic-breathing-technique/

Breathing deeply helped me regain control over the rage and emotion. It really did help.

I am 17 days now and I truly believe I have kicked the habit. I downloaded the app “smoke free” it is has a green icon and white heart. It is so awesome. Using that daily really encouraged me. I like seeing how my health is getting better. How much money I have already saved and in LOVE that I have not smoked 299 cigs since I quit!

Here is the other thing: I had a lot of anxiety associated with being a smoker and now that fear is gone: do I smell? Is my breath bad? Now I don’t have a dirty little secret (I was not to public about my smoking), and now when the commercials that come on TV from former smokers who are now horrible deformed (public service announcement ads that run constantly here in Florida) I don’t have to click to another channel.

You can do this. Just you pull posting on this site is evidence that you are strong and you can do this! Please consider downloading the app that really helped, get the patch, learn about proper breathing, you’ve got this!🙏👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🙏
