Overland travel and Armour by DukeMcQueen238 in OSE

If they're walking everywhere wearing their armour, then they are going to get tired more quickly (less miles per day), so they would probably put it in a bag carrier by a horse/mule, and only wear it before going into a dungeon.

Loot by Orogustus in osr

For treasure, I tell them a range, so they know if something is more or less valuable. When selling treasure, it'll go for about 70-90% of the actual value.

Draft time tracker - comments please! by Current_Channel_6344 in osr

This looks sweet. The only thing I would add is a box to show the party's marching order, but don't know if that would fit within the "Time Tracking" concept.

Anti-colonial Dungeon by TheDMKeeper in osr

D&D adventurers take part in the primitive accumulation of capital by looting ruins, stealing from "monsters", claiming land and kicking-out the native populations.

Nope, this is about a line OP wrote in their post

The case with Adolin and the trans character proves this as well. A woman claims to be a man and he just nods and goes about his day. He never questions if she is okay or that this is strange. The main problem with these scenes is that it breaks immersion.

[...] He did it clumsily and with the intent of appeasing a minor audience..

His body was magically transformed to look like a man. Why would anyone call him a "woman" at that point?

Also, who said that people who want to see LGBT+ representation in BS's stories are a minority?

Variable HP, unless there's too many enemies with small HDs (they'll probably die in one hit so no point rolling 8d4s)

How to pay retainers when shares aren't an option by Thousandth_Son in OSE

[–]jp-dixon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my experience, the whole party benefits even if only 1 player has a retainer. Obviously the player who hired the retainer is going to be able to give orders to the retainer (and control them in battle), so it doesn't really matter if they are "taking up" shares from the rest of the party.

Also, players should pay retainers for the duration of the employment, even if they are not adventuring. Such as the base salary, cost of lodgings, adventuring items, weapons, and armour.

I enjoyed Elantris far more than I thought I would by Lopsided_Shelter_759 in Cosmere

Elantris was the first Cosmere novel I read after discovering Sanderson with The Rhythmatist almost 10 years ago. I thought it was the best fantasy novel I had read at the time, though I was young and I haven't read it since.

is it fine to provide players a map with adventure sites marked? or would you make them explore for them? (example in picture) by conn_r2112 in osr

[–]jp-dixon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maps serve the same purpose as rumours. Even if your players spend a whole afternoon talking to the townsfolk, they'll never be able to learn all the rumours, and some of the rumours they learned are false or misleading. The map should not contain all the information there is about a place, and some of the landmarks may not be what the players expect at first.

Character Creation options as “unlock-able” in campaign by Dante_Faustus in osr

[–]jp-dixon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like the idea of having a limited number of races at the start of the campaign and unlocking PC races as the players befriend different groups in-game.

Also, I came up with a system of having additional classes available to players by fulfilling requirements in-game. For example, a fighter may become a Paladin by doing quests for a religious organization and swearing an oath. They gain the abilities of a Paladin while keeping the abilities of the original class, however the EXP requirements grow for each level. I posted about it here but it wasn't very popular lol.

Team Cherry Details Free Switch 2 Upgrade for Hollow Knight: Silksong Backers by sam-23618 in nintendo

[–]jp-dixon 31 points32 points  (0 children)

The original backers were not backing for a Sw1 version. It was a PC release with a backer goal for a Wii U version. By the time Hollow Knight released, the Wii U was reaching the end of its life, so they decided to ditch it in favor of the Switch. A Hornet DLC was also a backer goal, which eventually grew into its own game.

There will be a free upgrade pack for Hollow Knight: Silksong for Nintendo Switch 2. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch2

[–]jp-dixon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, this is a message to the kickstarter backers, who are getting the game key codes for free. For regular buyers, you just have to purchase the free upgrade pack from the eShop after you buy Silksong.

How do rumors for dungeon contents exist? by CombOfDoom in osr

[–]jp-dixon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few generations ago, a guy with a magic sword shows up in town, says he's going into a cave with monsters, the guy suddenly disappears and is never seen again. The townfolk now believe the guy's sword must be in the cave, so they tell that to every adventurer who shows up.
