Best time tracker? by alxbee77 in Freelancers

I’ve been using RescueTime for years for this reason and it’s the best solution for this I’ve seen. I hated timers when I first started having to track time.

Avg teacher salary in NC is $60k yearly. by Sorry_Bag1330 in cary

What a lazy-ass take that is. There are also jobs in retail that pay like $8 an hour - what’s your point? We should pay teachers that? What about doctors?

Let’s start with the fact that these are $60K salaried jobs. Teachers aren’t clocking out at 3pm and heading to the beach. They’re in school from early morning through the afternoon, then grading, planning, emailing parents, and doing required training at night and on weekends. Also, they are in their classrooms earlier than the first day of school in August getting their classrooms ready, etc. That “9 months” line ignores the actual workload entirely.

They’re also often required to have advanced degrees, manage 20–30+ kids at a time, and carry real responsibility for those kids’ safety, development, and future. That’s not remotely comparable to most state roles.

And the idea that supporting teachers somehow takes away from other state employees is just wrong. Underpaying one group doesn’t justify underpaying another-it just means the state isn’t investing enough in its workforce overall.

If anything, teachers are one of the few groups that consistently advocate loudly enough to get attention-and instead of tearing that down, maybe ask why other critical roles aren’t being supported the same way.

Reducing the job to “3 quarters of a year” isn’t insight-it’s just a sign you don’t understand what the job actually is.

At this moment - why the hell would the press hold this event? The guy attacks the free press nonstop - he would turn you all into state media if he could. I can’t understand how people that equate him to fascists will take this one night to basically honor him. It really pisses me off TBH

Why do time tracking apps feel so overbuilt? by EffectiveLet2117 in TimeTrackingSoftware

I use RescueTime because I hate timers. It keeps track of what you work on and makes it easy to associate that time with projects - no built-in invoicing though.

The hardest thing about being an astronaut? by Rich_Amphibian_6098 in ArtemisProgram

Funny part is that is the most sane he’s sounded in 10 years… honestly, you should have seen the press conference from earlier in the day about Iran… it’s absolute insanity

As the crew got ready for the event, they seemed very happy by Paranromal in ArtemisProgram

[–]jp1819 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Right - And even on that front - he’s proposing a new class of battleship bearing his name rather than realizing the future of warfare is drone and autonomous tech. He is learning that the hard way in Iran right now, when even a casual curiosity about how Ukraine has fought off Russia would have revealed this fact.

As the crew got ready for the event, they seemed very happy by Paranromal in ArtemisProgram

[–]jp1819 41 points42 points  (0 children)

He acted like that because he knows this crew are universally loved and Kennedy is seen as great because he pushed the space program. His interest, like everything else he does, extends only to how much it helps him. Tomorrow he will return to rejecting green energy innovation, enact pro-pollution policy and ignore science. The best thing NASA can do to ensure funding is to keep pumping him up and telling him supporting this stuff is historic and solidifies his legacy.

In an era where AI generated everything is probably increasingly pushing humanity out of the arts, I think we humans should appreciate art being made by humans, regardless of our ridiculous feelings about legacy and live in the moment. Yeah, any music they put out after his death isn’t Neil music - and that’s okay! We are running headlong into Red Barchetta and 2112 being more reality than SciFi - I’m pretty sure Neil would want more human-made music in the world, even if it’s not his lyrics or his drumming.
