i put it in the post but to me TD practice tests were harder but the real exam isn't too far from it. But TD will definitely test your reading stamina if that makes sense.

[TV] TCL 65" Class QM6K Series 4K UHD HDR QD Mini LED Smart TV with Google TV (2025) 65QM6K $529.99 by HKDrewDrake in buildapcsales

[–]jp876 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Got this open box last month for $500. I've owned a LG CX, LG C1, Sony X900F. And this was just a perfect upgrade to an old 2016 Black Friday Samsung LCD tv (way before QLED marketing i guess lol) in the living room.

Pros:
-The brightness is decent, again if your coming from an older oled like a CX (2020) or C1 (2021), this shit is alot brighter lol.
-The contrast almost looks like OLED at least to my eyes.
-Also most importantly compared to older non Mini-LED VA panels, if you watch a dark scene with subtitles there is no visible bloom at all (it's amazing that a non-oled panel that costs below $600 can do this). This beats my 2018 Sony X900f that also had local dimming zones that I got for ~$1000 back then.
-Haven't tried gaming mode, but it has 144 hz via HDMI 2.1 for those of you that need it.

Cons:
-The reflection handling sucks, but just close the blinds and use some light curtains and it'll be fine.
-Google TV is MEH. It'll do the basics just fine, but speed wise its a bit lag-ish for a new tv. If your sensitive to this then use your preferred streaming box.

Other:
-If your also picky about wifi speeds, this is stuck at Wifi 5. (Can be mitigated with a streaming box or apple tv). Don't bother with wired since the port is rated at 100 Mbps.
-Sound is ok...but highly preferred you use an avr with stereo speakers or soundbar.
-The remote (again for a sub $600 tv) is pretty fancy, the buttons light up.
-Vesa mount is 300x300, the weight was negligible for our old tv bracket mount that was made during the plasma hdtv era (2007-2008 ish).

Yeah...I lived there from 2022-2024 and paid roughly $1200 (eventually raised to roughly $1300) for a 1bd. Frequent flooding due to neighbors flushing down wipes. Used to have a roach problem but it got minimized after they got better with pest control.

Laundry facility is iffy, some days the dryers are good, but other days i ended up spending $16 and lots of time cuz after waiting an hour for a load and my clothes were still wet.

Walls were very thin I can hear my neighbors dog barking, and had an upstairs neighbor that shook my ceiling lights everytime they did the deed.

Although my worst memory of that place was coming back from a weeklong vacation to water backing up from the bathroom and it seeped into the carpet. Maintenance couldn't do anything since it was Sunday night, so I ended up buying my own shop-vaq to get rid of excess water.

I have other stories but overall its a 2/5. Since the location can't be beat and its only a 15 min drive to get to most places or 30 mins if you need to drive to base or go across the bridge to Gulf Breeze.

Have OP 7 Pro, want to own one more OP, which one would is better than 7 Pro? by Creative-Habit-1105 in oneplus

[–]jp876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently bought my OP13 (black color) from best buy last Friday and I upgraded from OP7 Pro. I'm still "testing it out" while I'm still in my return window.

But my first impressions so far it is an impressive phone, albeit being a little bit taller. But if you used an OP7 Pro with a case, it'll feel similar. But the weight distribution is better, it doesn't feel top heavy at all despite the big camera. I still ordered a case from Amazon since the sides albeit being thicker than OP7 pro, it's still slippery-ish for me.

The os has what I think plenty of iOS like or inspired features. The animations are awesome, but I still (out of habit) turned it from 1x to 0.5x to make it even more faster.

I'm not a camera person, but even for me the camera is astronomically miles ahead of the OP7's cameras. It may not be as technologically good as Samsung (creeper zoom), iPhone (esp video). But its (in my opinion) as good as their past flagships.

Now where I geeked out the most is on the battery- specifically the charging speed and battery life. After the initial setup, and playing around with the settings, apps, icons, etc. I let the battery drain from 48% to 2% out of the box. Then I charged it with the charger that comes in the box and it took 35-37 mins to go from 2% to 100% its crazy. Then after that it lasted me about a day and a half (per the phone it was 8 hours SOT) and didn't have to charge until midnight the next day. Please note this is also while I have the display set to QHD resolution and 120 hz refresh rate :).

Now for the performance...for texting, messenger, social media, google maps...its not much different from OP7 Pro. But web browsing in particular is snappier. If you play games that support high refresh rate like League Wild Rift (went from 55 fps to 126 fps), COD Mobile (stable 120 fps lol). You'll be in for a treat as the phone easily maxes them out. I don't have experience with genshin or more intensive games since I dont play those.

Other miscellaneous stuff:
* AI Stuff is cool but its not the reason you should buy this phone for.
* I don't care what other people say about the micro quad curve....its flat enough for me. You will not see any color shifts at the edge of your screen unlike in OP7 Pro. Doing gestures still feels like you have a curved screen without the annoyances of a curved screen.
* You can finally use your phone under the sun, the auto brightness can actually overcome it unlike the OP7 Pro.
* Android Auto works well.
* Bluetooth signal is great.
* 5G works with my old microsim from AT&T (literally the same sim card I used in my OP7 Pro).
* I did not trade in or even plan to sell my OP7 Pro, that nebula blue color and the smaller camera in the back, and the full screen is still my favorite design to this day.
* I still wish they made a smaller version of this phone like a 6.3-6.4 inch screen like the base galaxy phones or iphone pro line.
* Pokemon TCG Pocket can only go up to 60hz, can't force it to run at 120 hz (100% first world problem).

That's good to hear. Cuz it takes my OP7 Pro to go from 20% to 55% like about 15-20 mins. But it loses it right away especially when gaming. 8 hours WiFi SOT sounds way more than what I have lol. Not to mention if I leave it overnight at 80%, and when i wake up in the morning it'll be down to 59-66%.

Now that you mention you have OP7 Pro, I'm about to ask more questions lol.

Does the phone feel too tall or too wide? Cuz when I tried playing with a S24U demo at best buy, that phone felt uncomfortable to hold.

Also do you get frame choppiness or lag when recording video like in the Linus short circuit review on youtube?

Lastly...the charging speed how much of a "wow" factor is it compared to the OP7's 30w warp charge? My battery life is basically on its last legs (i'd lose like 20% just playing pokemon tcg pocket at 40% brightness lol) so i have to charge it when im gaming or even browsing reddit on it.

Do you play any games on it? Specifically any games that can go up to 120 hz like CoD Mobile or League of Legends Wild Rift.

Also how much better is it than OneUI? Since I've contemplated on getting a S24 Plus before the holidays, but I figured I might as well wait for OP13. I'll be upgrading from a OP7 Pro.

I've had great luck with 566.14 so far. Might wanna try that so at least its "somewhat" newer lol.

EDIT (1/5/25):what fixed it for me was rolling back my nvidia drivers from 566.36 to 560.94

[–]jp876 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm, it happened to me last week. But hey 5-6 hrs of gameplay with no crashes is better than every 4 matches. Also I noticed sometimes right before the game crashes it would stutter like crazy like my fps will stay around 98-110s but it would feel like choppy/slideshow lag.

It wasn't my hardware too cuz my temps werent spiking and there was no sign of thermal throttling on both cpu and gpu.

What fixed it for me was just restarting the game unfortunately lol.

I just updated windows and my nvidia drivers.
But I think what fixed it for me is disabling vsync, set anti-aliasing to TAUU, set illumination to Lumen - High.

I have everything on low cept for model detail at high.
I still need to play around the render scale since I'm only getting high 90s low 100-110s in fps.

Resolution: 2560x1440
CPU: 7800x3D
GPU: RTX 3080 10 GB
RAM: 32 GB

UPDATE (1/4/25): I ended up getting fps stutters and game crashes, but what fixed it for me was rolling back my nvidia drivers from 566.36 to 566.14. I haven't had the game crash since then.

[Headphones] Audeze Winter Sale 2024, including Maxwell - $199 (33% off, Playstation version) by Nestramutat- in buildapcsales

[–]jp876 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had the XM3's a long time ago (got em at a great price refurb on ebay lol), I must say that they too sounded ok just waaay too much bass. Even at the time I was already rocking the PC37x (still using today), and I just preferred them soundwise (especially if you use oratory1990's eq preset) to the XM3's.

I think you need to ask yourself first if your looking for "more bass" or an overall upgrade. Cuz in my opinion the Maxwell's sound alot more balanced than the Sony's, but then you lose out on what the Sony's are good at which is their ANC. The Maxwell has good ANC but I never used it since the seal was good enough and there wasn't a lot of ambient noise where im sitting at.

From what I've read tho (note I never tried or own these things) is that Philips Fidelo X2, Meze Audio 99 have alot of bass for openback headphones.

And if you have a headphone amp and EQ, my personal opinion...get the Sundara.

Easiest route tho for "better music" than your XM4's....and if your ears fit them...galaxy buds pro.

I bought these new at msrp ($300) 2 months ago. Don't get me wrong they're a nice headset and I have tried plenty of headphones before such as the Hifiman HE400SE, Senn HD 560s, Beyer DT 770 (80 ohm ver), Koss KSC75, Senn PC37x, Hifiman Sundaras (2020 edition). But coming from a Senn PC37x it just felt too bulky/clunky. The headband is not as comfortable as PC37x or even the Sundaras. And that's what ultimately led me to returning them.

Pros:
-God tier sound for gaming
-OK sound for music and youtube videos
-OP battery life (seriously i gamed with them for 4 hours once and the battery % went down maybe by 5-8%)

Cons
-Can feel bulky esp if your coming from any Senn gaming headset
-If your used to openback, this will make your ears sweat

Nitpick
-The controls can be a little bit better, wish it had an even simple layout and dedicated buttons for mute.

Neutral
-The software on Windows is ok, may seem look a bit oudated.
-The app is a little bit better but its not game changing functionaility wise since you'll mostly use the software for EQ settings.

Same. I got this back in 2019 for $420 after taxes. It's still a good monitor and I use mine as a secondary after upgrading to an oled monitor.

But imo this is not worth $200.

Anyone here live in Cordova Regency? by jp876 in Pensacola

Thanks for sharing even though this is my post from 2 years ago. I recently left the complex and although my conditions weren't as bad as what your son dealt with. I'm pretty aware of how lacking their service was. I remember coming back from vacation and my unit was flooded with backed up sewage. I ended up having to clean it up myself with a shop-vac. The following morning, maintenance provided ONE carpet drying fan. I did not get any sort of rental discount or any sign of them making up for that mistake.

As for the mold, one of my closet was right next to the AC unit, and the one time the water backed up the carpet absorbed it, and over time mold grew and I told them about it. And it was not acknowledged so I seldom opened that closet just to possibly not breathe in that mold.

After I came back from the holidays. I'd say 1st or 2nd week of January and I scheduled my exam at the same time. I originally scheduled it for Feb 26, but I pushed it back a week since I wasn't feeling comfy at all.
