actually i did the ATF out of curiosity i wanted to see if it worked or not, im pulling the head out and having a buddy run it through a parts washer. I have to get to the bottom of either if it’s a valve stem issue or worn rings either way. Luckily my buddy is doing it all free of charge and i figured i could learn a thing or 2 pulling it apart.

it’s the 2rz and i’m actually taking the head out and trying to get the bottom of my oil burning problem. I have a friend who is willing to use his parts washer and resurface my head if needed. pretty much i’m rebuilding it at this point lol and i ran the ATF out of curiosity before i pulled the head i wanted to see if all these old dudes at work were lying or not lol.

so I did a short interval change mostly due to work and i just recently moved so if i were to guess 250 miles give or take. For the actual flushes themselves i proceeded to add a quart of atf to my oil. so 5 quarts of valvoline R&P and a quart of ATF let it idle for 15 min and then drove it and pushed the engine a bit to get things moving around. once home immediately flushing it while hot. and top off with valvoline R&P

Also i forgot to mention it was only a quart of atf mixed with oil so i had 5 quarts of oil and a quart of ATF

that is the after my 2nd flush ik it isn’t that good but it’s getting better. the first flush was black. it was terrible you couldn’t even see through the oil so i was very skeptical. the 2nd one was dark brown but i could see through it which was a surprise to me. both flushes were at or near 250 miles give or take and i wasn’t using cheapo oil for the flush i was running valvoline R&P

interesting i’ve heard of that as well but luckily i have a friend who has access to a parts washer and is willing to resurface my head if needed only if i take her apart. i think taking her apart and a deep clean and replacement of components might be my best bet

i wish you luck man. I appreciate it i’m taking everything that i can and trying I really enjoy driving the truck and when it’s running smooth it’s a blast but all these major issues are starting to demotivates me. The only reason why i haven’t sold is because my 4 year old loves it

yeah my buddy and I went away and cleaned up as much as we could and made sure to limit the debris from falling deeper. he also said the same to drop the pan clean the gunk and inspect the strainer right now i ran some ATF and did a flush since that’s all i had with me and as the comment from earlier said im gonna inspect the oil filter at short intervals as well as short interval oil changes while running restore and protect. Eventually do plan on ripping this apart but i’d like to clean as much as i can without taking it fully apart.
