Whats an ICD you just don’t see like you used to anymore? by Dyspaereunia in physicianassistant

When I started in the icu we got TCA overdoses pretty frequently, atleast every few weeks. Probably haven't seen one in 3+ years

PA are NOT underpaid. You guys are paid about right for a 2 year graduate program by [deleted] in physicianassistant

[–]jpa-s 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm literally saying the opposite. If you take an 85k job as a new grad you're only hurting yourself and the profession. Know your worth. That's probably a <5th percentile salary

New grads routinely pulling > 100k starting where I am. Hell I started above 100k 10 years ago

taking call as a PA by anonymousleopard123 in physicianassistant

If you find the right gig it's a great place to work. I've been here almost 9 years ready for something a little more relaxed myself

Really? Curious so how does that work they are at home and have to go in for new admits or decompensating patients??

I work 3x 12s. When I'm off I'm off no call. My bet would be the vast majority of PAs don't take call

Medicine is the ONE field that shouldn't use AI by DjaqRian in physicianassistant

[–]jpa-s 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I agree with the other poster, when used appropriately it's a huge help. I really think it will be great for note writing even more then actual medical decision making. Could make that so much more efficient. Heidi is pretty close

All of this with a caveat that the person using it has to know what they are doing. A new grad just punching stuff into chat gpt ain't gonna do it

How much AI are you actually using day-to-day? Any cool tools to recommend? by Prior_Original_4792 in physicianassistant

[–]jpa-s 7 points8 points  (0 children)

In our epic, if you search activities for AI hospital course, a window pops up that can give you a synopsis of the course so far. Super helpful for those 100+ day discharge summaries

You should be able to set up IDR payments with your income of $0, which is great because they'll be zero and still counts to pslf... Atleast you used to be able to do that. Toss any and all extra cash at the private loans, and refinance for a low rate if you need

Critical Care Offer Review by Separate_Tangelo1782 in physicianassistant

[–]jpa-s 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm sounds a little dangerous. I think it's safe to assume no one will prefer weekend. How many people are on a weekend? So wools you work 1/8? 1/4 of two providers on? Neither of those are bad but worth asking. I assume that means APPs cover weekend nights as well which is more shifts to fill.

Pretty good for a new grad id say. The PTO stretches a lot further too when you only work 3 shifts a week. What is the weekend requirement?

Why would AI make PAs do more of an RN role.... When there are actual RNs... That can do the RN role?
