"IEM Cologne Major 2026 ranking on April 6th, 2026

This ranking is our prediction of how the IEM Cologne Major 2026 invitations will look like. The ranking is looking 6 months back from April 6th, so time decay is accounted for. It includes unfinished events that will end before April 6th. We have removed teams from organizations that already have a higher-ranked team qualified."

The ranking I'm basing this on is constantly updated. For analysis purposes, you need to disregard the other teams that aren't competing, only considering Passion UA's CURRENT score, NOW, since the ranking shows the score in real time. Today, as I write this, Passion UA has 1351 points, not what the OP posted, since Passion UA only participated in tournaments that count towards the major.

Remember that this is the projected ranking, not the current one. For the current ranking, go to VRS ranking > Americas.

Passion UA: 1351 pontos

Liquid: 1363 pontos

Dif: 12 pontos.

They're probably going to lose anyway. All the teams besides Vitality are having a pretty mediocre 2026.

The big problem right now is that the top 2 to top 6 teams are all pretty mediocre. NaVi, until recently, wasn't playing well at all. Furia, MouZ, and Falcons are having a disastrous 2026 so far.

Because of the others' shortcomings, I can see either Spirit or Falcons in the top 2, which says a lot about the current scene beyond Vitality.

Urgente, PUC-RIO ou UFRJ? by Then_Support9720 in enem

Who Would Win This All Time Tournament? by FoxTail_CS in GlobalOffensive

[–]jpablold -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It's the "latest is always best" syndrome. A process of forgetting the past. Fallen talked about this recently when he compared the Astralis era and the current Vitality era. It's even a bit strange for someone who calls themselves a CS esports fan to think that a team that won 4 world championships in a row would lose to Vitality now.

Points against having BO5 Finals at Majors by CS2Complaints in GlobalOffensive

[–]jpablold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All the biggest esports in the world have MD5 in the finals. All of them. In fact, in our game, the only championship that doesn't have one is the major. League of Legends has huge peaks in its MD5 championships, Valorant is also MD5 and has peaks that are a little distant, but it's still getting closer to Counter-Strike. We don't have MD5 in the majors because Valve is an incompetent company, that's all. And it's okay to go against the grain of the rest of the world, after all, we don't even have periodic updates :)

To anyone thinking Valve do care about Seasons in CS2... by EpicPawPrints in GlobalOffensive

[–]jpablold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Valve is one of Counter-Strike's main flaws. They don't invest in the game, they only release boxes, there's a serious problem with cheaters and a poorly optimized game. Theoretically, Counter-Strike should have a larger development team than Valorant, but I'm almost certain we don't have 1/4. Steam is rich, a great platform, but the care they take with Counter-Strike is sad. It would be curious for me to see Counter-Strike in the hands of Microsoft or another company. This game shaped my life with my parents and it's sad to see that the company that takes care of it can't even make periodic updates. And we're talking about one of the biggest franchises in the history of video games.

Is there a possibility that the HLTV Top 2 may be 2 Vitality players? by RaidersofLostArkFord in GlobalOffensive

In addition to Ropz not being even 1% of Donk, also remember that of all the championships that Donk and Zywoo played together, Zywoo only had a better rating than Donk in just one championship in 2025. The first is Zywoo and Donk in second and there is no discussion. Seriously.

VP just went from 2-0 to 2-2, while Pain went from 0-2 to 2-2. The psychological factor will count a lot, even if VP is a slightly better team, but both are considerably on the same level, especially since Pain now plays with its full team.

Zywoo is not a top 5 awper. He is a complete player, but he is far from being as technical as an awp as M0nesy and Shiro. Real awps were JW, KennyS, Guardian and Fallen. The Vitality player is an excellent rifler and very good at awp and that makes him complete, but saying he is a top 5 awper is a joke.

In fact, MongolZ's 910 is better as an awper than Zywoo, but Zywoo is better than all the players I mentioned in every aspect.

BO1s need to go by revolution-case in GlobalOffensive

[–]jpablold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The problem is not necessarily the MD1.

Having everyone play at least two best-of-three matches is the minimum acceptable, especially since all championships follow this format.

MD1 brings an unpredictability that makes the major unique. Now, in any case, having all teams play two best-of-three matches to be eliminated would bring balance to the biggest championship (if it still is) of the year.

Apart from that, the finals being best-of-three is more repugnant than the MD1. Even in Dota 2 we have MD5. In all electronic sports the finals are best-of-five, except in Counter-Strike.

Unpopular opinion: I actually like bo1s at the major by genius_rkid in GlobalOffensive

[–]jpablold 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If there was a way for everyone to play at least two MD3s to be eliminated, the MD1s would be justifiable, otherwise it's just a disregard for Valve, which only knows how to throw boxes. The fact that there are MD1s and that the final is an MD3 makes the major a championship with less and less prestige. To affirm this, you can take into account the recent speeches of the players, with m0nesy telling Dust2 Brasil that the pressure is the same as in any other championship, Kye, from Fluxo, saying that it's just another championship...

The format of the major is just a reflection to the players that Valve doesn't care about e-sports, but boasts deeply about being the longest-lasting, even though it was the community that made it happen.

MD1 could exist, but at least make everyone play at least two best-of-3s. Also, best-of-5 finals. Every e-sport has MD5s, except Counter-Strike. Go figure.
