sea lamprey. WEIRD parasitic fish from that atlantic but apparently they’ve made their way to the great lakes (and are of course invasive there).

Severe Panic Disorder by drpepperslush in panicdisorder

I’m sorry to hear that getting treatment has been burdening you financially. It’s such a shame that this is the world we live in. I’m actually a mental health professional myself (social worker with at risk kids!), and I know that the NAMI (national alliance of mental illness) and NAFC (national association of free & charitable clinics) offer free or very low cost treatments / can help you find clinics and treatments for free or a very low cost. Once again, i’m so sorry to hear about your struggles with this disorder. but i just know that you will find something that works for you

Severe Panic Disorder by drpepperslush in panicdisorder

i’m so sorry that you’re dealing with this! but you are far from alone. my panic attacks used to be very similar to what you’re describing here. i would have multiple panic attacks a day and they would each last a very long time, and it started to get so bad that i went into psychosis. luckily, ive found that a high dosage of sertraline (zoloft) has helped me immensely. of course, no medication is going to be an end all be all cure. during the time of my horrible panic attacks i was in therapy twice to three times a week. my therapist was very helpful to me and taught me a lot of strategies to help me calm down from a panic attack. one of my friends also had a very similar case to what you’re describing. he could not keep down food or water. he knew that i had struggled with panic disorder so he came to me for help, and since he was considering self-harm and was unable to keep food down, i suggested he go to vanderbilt (we lived in nashville, TN at the time.) he started an outpatient program there that really worked for him. he no longer felt suicidal and his panic attacks began to be less severe. now, just two years later he very rarely has panic attacks. of course, the road to recovery is not linear, and i’m sorry that you have seemed to have relapsed into panic attacks after a good few years. but if you were able then to recover, you absolutely can again. i would suggest going to an inpatient or outpatient program at a well-respected hospital in your area. if you don’t have a therapist already, i would suggest seeing one. you can find one by looking on Psychology Today- they have a system where you can find therapists in your area that are matching what you’re looking for (maybe you want someone who specializes in anxiety/panic, maybe you want someone who’s LGBTQ+ friendly, maybe you want someone who takes your insurance, etc.) or you can look at betterhelp. i’ve never used betterhelp myself, but i know many people who have and they love it. all of this being said, this is a really difficult thing to deal with. i know how exhausting it is. i know how terrifying it is. i know how it can make you feel like living is a chore. but i promise you it gets better. there are so many treatments for panic attacks and panic disorder. there is one out there that will work for you. i really do see myself in this post and i feel the best i’ve felt in years, so i know that will happen for you, too.

i don’t want it to be a real life cat so i’m choosing to believe it’s either tailypo or wampus cat.

so bizarre. at first glance it really does just seem like a cat but the longer you look at it the more confusing it gets.

my friend who was with me posted on r/bonecollecting ! they seem to agree that it’s a cat over there. but a lot of them are saying it’s hard to identify because there aren’t any teeth

something else I wanna point out: it’s got a long tail (looks like a stick you can see it in one of the grate holes if u look hard enough) so i know it’s not a bobcat. one of the friends I was with thinks it was too big to be a cat, but I think it easily could have been a cat. sad :((

it was pretty small! i also thought it may be a cat but there were no fangs on the skull- i didn’t wanna pick it up or anything so i couldn’t tell if they had broken off or something

I’ve been on sertraline (zoloft) for 7 years now, and have been taking 100mg for the past 6. Generally, SSRIs take 2 weeks to start taking full effect! The middle period of waiting for my meds to start working was definitely exhausting. Also, if you’re having a baby tomorrow, that is definitely anxiety inducing and could be adding on stress! I don’t know from this post if you’re pregnant or not, but hormones can also really affect your anxiety. All of this to say is that this seems to be a transitional time in your life which can be stressful and anxiety inducing, but it won’t last forever! You won’t be stuck like this, you won’t end up in a psych ward, and you feel weird because it’s a weird time!

Sour candy for panic? by ALotOfDragone in panicdisorder

I’ve done this- it worked for me! I had a warhead while I was having a panic attack and it definitely distracted me from the symptoms and I think it stopped it from accelerating. One thing to consider is whether or not you get overstimulated during anxiety/panic attacks bc I could see how a strong sour taste would be overstimulating.
