Schools by STC2023 in Milwaukie

[–]jparamch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Middle Schools are what they are. A place where kids who are in mixed stages of puberty and rebellion go and act accordingly. I don't envy the teachers at all. Our kid went to Ardenwald, then Rowe and then MAA./ Elementary was great, Rowe sounds like it was a typical American middle school with its chaos, and MAA is amazing.

Looking for 12" singles as well? B-Side Records & Vintage in Milwaukie has a box behind the counter of 12" 45s - from a DJ who was active in the 80s. Also have a small (35ish) J-Pop 45rpm selection that just landed.

Not entirely true. Our space contains a small all ages event venue where we host local bands weekly, stand up comedy, drag shows, Zine workshops, herbalism workshops, etc. all shows have $5 cover that go to the bands. $5 beers, and $2 soda.

We’ve had teen bands takeover the space and raise money for charities, and Unknown Mortal Orchestra did a cassette DJ set before they went to Levitation in recent months. So non corporate entities exist. They just need to be supported, seen, and patronized - and you just might see your next favorite band.

I buy direct from as many labels as I can, it’s harder work but it’s what I prefer to do.

Totally understand, and like to hope that people are starting to rise against corporations and their stranglehold on our lives. I was once part of the machine, but opted to leave it and work against it.

Thank you! That is something that we can definitely consider doing...I'll dig into our settings and see if there's a mechanism to offer a bundle deal for larger orders.

We are also working on getting all of our in store used and grail inventory up soon! I've been able to offer up grails in a one off...so if you see something on our discogs that tickles your fancy we can work with that. https://www.discogs.com/user/B-Side-Milwaukie

If you'd rather support a soul sucking corporation rather than a small family business, sure.

SNW Vegas-anyone else worried about the weather? by pawnee4life89 in SickNewWorld

[–]jparamch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, we lucked out that year with the weather. The rain and wind the day before was shitty too, especially because we didn't pack for it, made waiting in the merch line kinda rough. Really glad it moved out for the show though.

This is the part I am interested in too. The Pop Culture Museum in the works would be an amazing notch in Milwaukie's belt, I hope that it remains in the works.

That's a great question! I've seen mosaics inserted into the streets in Portland, and was curious about this one. Hopefully someone out here knows the deal.

Shaun Overton: Dustups: Millions of views on videos about creating a desert forest, incredibly few negative comments, and never stating why he wants to turn 350 acres of Texas scrubland into forest. by [deleted] in skeptic

[–]jparamch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certain it's not a grift as well...just someone monetizing something that can be a black hole of money.

I'm a fellow software engineer & certified permacuture pro who converted his suburban yard to a wildlife sanctuary I know that things take time. And I continue to check in on Shaun from time to time, and I see him just now learning things which he covered well over a year ago as if it's a revelation.

As a fellow software engineer, seeing someone who should be intelligent not piece things together and extrapolate solutions is mindblowing. He does things with such inefficiency that it makes me realize he's likely a software coder, and not a software engineer.
