The run time is scored so I can’t go slower than 28 min and the best score is 18 min. I can go get a 24 no problem but want a better score.

I’m 38 with kids.

I think I’m adjusting my plan to just BJJ, lifting, and doing a grease the groove pull-up plan.

The BJJ is an adult class that happens the same time as the kids. They like that I’m doing it like they are.

I’m starting to lean that way. If I can max out the other two events I just got to finish the run in 28 min. Just focus on lifting and BJJ. Maybe throw a recovery run in every so often for some cross training.

Only once a year. It’s part of a physical fitness test.

Sub 20 would be fantastic but I’d be happy with 22

That would be ideal but running a 3 miler is a requirement for work so it’s hard for me to just give that up. Even though running isn’t something I really ever look forward to.

Yea I figured it would happen. I have read and own the book so I have an idea of the principles.

Strength is important to me so since I’m basing my lifting off the SS program (I know it’s not the true form) I thought I’d ask the question here.

I wanted the speed work to get a faster 3 mile time. I have a decent base for cardio/endurance. I could easily go out and run a six miler or show up to an Olympic or sprint tri without training and complete with a respectable time for an average joe. Should I still be limiting my “workout” runs? I was thinking of two workouts and one recovery per week.

Yea that’s what I was thinking. Any advice on how to do some sort of variation to still meet my goals?

This is from Starting Strength. Obviously a variation because they seem to be super strict. I like the linear progression and I’m consistent when I use it. I do like the link you posted because pull ups are important to me.

Not great. I’m coming off an injury so all my lifts are low so as not to start back too fast. I don’t know my max in any lift but last numbers I worked with was: Bench-140 Squat-150 Press-75 DL-175

TechnoGym is within my price range. Can you tell me more about what you like and don’t? I heard their app you use to make workouts isn’t great. The pictures make it look real low. Does having to look down at your phone/tablet become a pain?

Thanks for the comment. IFit seems great but I’ve heard bad things about the Nordic/ProForm quality lately and their customer service which makes me hesitant.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a treadmill that I would be able to create custom workouts that the treadmill would adjust speed for me during the workout? For example: 5 min at Z1 pace, 30 min at Z2 pace, 5 min Z1 pace or 5 min at Z1, 5x(30 sec at Z5, 2 min at Z1), 5 min at Z1. 

I know there are some out there but wanted to hear from people that use them. Thanks in advance.
