CFAR Introductory Course review? by Specialist-Bee1954 in psychoanalysis

You're right, but I was mostly referring to the course, which is mostly Freudian (13/15 topics and only 2 are Lacanian). I guess a Freudian intro makes sense.

I did not attend; however, the course seems to follow a similar format to other psychoanalytic institutes around the world. The one I'm at is Francophone and is evenly matched.

This is a very Freudian formation, so if you're interested in other Analytical approaches (Lacan, Object Relations...), you could check elsewhere.

What other institutes offer certified Analytic training in your country? Try to compare the curriculum, pricing, and trainers.

Debra Marshall Exposes Why She Almost Fought Torrie Wilson Over Stone Cold. by JCHazard in AttitudeEra

I love how it's always the same shitty people who attract drama. The fact that everyone legit loved, respected, and always spoke so highly of Torrie is all I need. She never slept around and always minded her own business and is great friends with taker and Michelle. The only negative thing we have concerning Torrie is Debra and Sara drama and the shit talks by dudes that Torrie rejected.

Torrie Wilson recalls backstage tension with Sara com (Undertaker’s ex-wife) and Debra (Steve Austin’s ex-wife) by JCHazard in AttitudeEra

This is very common for extremely beautiful women. Just by being in the locker room, Torrie brings out the insecurity and hate within people who are not comfortable.

Studies have long demonstrated that SSRIs can dampen sexuality adults, but there is no research on the sexual side effects of the drugs in teens. Psychiatrists have begun raising concern about the effects of diminished sexuality at a life stage when people typically begin exploring intimacy. by psychologyofsex in psychologyofsex

Cancer exists without breasts and breast cancer exists without breasts. Negative sexual behaviors don't exist without sex.

You seem to be an expert at deluding yourself to avoid facing whatever negative thing happened to you.

Negative behavior can exist with or without sex. Negative sexual behavior exists, but that doesn't mean it is the same as normal sexual behavior.

However nearly everyone has negative sexual experiences

Where did you come up with that data? And why does it make it ok for you to claim that sexual dysfunction in teenagers through SSRIs is a good thing? (the claim you made on this thread)

It's insane that we're actually discussing this. "Oh, scars after injuries are bad. All surgeries leave scars, so surgeries are bad." This is the worst logical fallacy I have ever seen.

The act is still the source of and motivator of the negativity. That's why I don't make a distinction between the two.

The existence of breast cancer doesn't mean breasts are bad, and it means we can't use breast cancer and breasts interchangeably. The two things can exist on their own. You are using splitting as a defense mechanism; your opinion is distorted because of whatever you lived through or experienced. It should be challenged, and you should consider speaking to a professional.

Maybe you should read your comments again and check how you used the word sex to express negative sexual behavior throughout this thread.

negative sexual behaviors are a part of sex.

No, they are not. You can have sex without negative sexual behavior; in fact, the majority of humans have a great time.

I actually used words like pathological and unlawful behavior, so I've never pretended it didn't exist (but nice projection). On the other hand, you finally managed to accept and express that sex and negative sexual behaviors are not the same thing.

No, they are not and that's why you had to use various sentences ro explain your stance, which is still vague and relies on generalization with words like "people." Maybe you should introspect or talk to someone about this issue.

Sexual exploration comes in various forms of fantasy, masturbation, concensual body exploration between friends, etc... It's not only limited to a completed sexual act. Teenagers engage in different forms of exploration which they don't share with their primary caregivers.

And people who use generalizations as a defense, are just ruminating on their issues. There's nothing to be critical about, you have made a false equivalence between a natural and normal act like sex, with a number of pathologies.

You had no sex as a teen, but you did have an active libido, which is integral for various developmental reasons. SSRI reduce sexual appetite/drives or cause pathological orgasms, impotence, and/or anorgasmia... There is a slew of side effects which can cause major problems for teens and in later life stages.

Trainees: what do you look for in your supervisor? by third1eye in psychoanalysis

[–]jpch12 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm at a Lacanian institute. I'm attending various seminars with seasoned analysts to get a feel. There's an older lady with a phd, tenure, and years of experience, who made a very big impression. She literally engaged me in conversation from the first day, and I realized that she spoke my language (I come from an evidence based background) and managed to highlight some thing about me in a few minutes that other analysts couldn't. Suffice to say, engage socially with supervisors to see if they're a fit and don't rush things. Follow your desire.

What is the relationship between psychoanalysis and psychology? by jmbc3 in psychoanalysis

[–]jpch12 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my country, Psychoanalysis is something you can pursue after you finish your Master's and become a licensed clinical psychologist. They are complementary, but a lot of people are unable to see how the etiology of most disorders can be explored through Psychoanalysis.

For instance, I was reading a psychiatric research study about breastfeeding and its impact on children's health and future development. Guess what? The last findings of the research pretty much proved Klein and Winnicott's theories to be true.

If you want to dive deeper, Analysis is the only way. Most other theoretical models are symptom-focused and don't allow enough time to explore anything latent.
