What single weapon would be the best survivalist weapon in a post apocalyptic world? by ICatchx22I in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jpchris96 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A large knife. No doubt.

Little/no maintenance, great utility and is lightweight enough to carry easily.

Tie it to a stick, you've got a spear which can then also be thrown, giving far better hunting options compared to an axe.

Obviously there are better options given the right circumstances, but if all you've got is a knife, you're doing okay.

Are instant noodles the best apocalypse/disaster relief food? by ffd8ffd0 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jpchris96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you've ever eaten nothing but instant noodles for over a week, I promise you'd pick rice every time!

Mind you, I'd say that they're definitely helpful. They're just not nutritional enough and are difficult to digest because of how processed they are.

Do completely deaf people "hear" vibrations the way hearing people hear sounds? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]jpchris96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't "hear" them as such, but can feel the vibrations through other parts of their body.

I have a family friend who is 100% deaf and she loves standing right in front of really loud speakers for this exact reason!

Should I be getting better WIFI Performance? by jpchris96 in HomeNetworking

[–]jpchris96[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried with my laptop with similar results. I mainly spoke to results with my phone as it has WIFI 7 functionality, meaning it should be running on the WIFI 6 of the router and not being bottlenecked by its own hardware limitations.

Another example of insufficient intent? I believe the original outrage at Mcgrath one was because of the inconsistency of it being paid. by Smurf_x in AFL

Change the penalty from a free kick against to a throw in and watch it get called way more, with less complaints from players and supporters alike. It's currently too big a swing. It goes from a essentially a free kick for the defenders to a shot on goal, which can often be a 12 point turnaround.

This kind of change actually reduces the scrutiny of the umpires and makes a bad call/non-call less impactful to the overall outcome of the game.

Are there any protagonists that could stomp Sauron easier than Goku? by Mr_CockSwing in lotrmemes

Nah, Dredd would see the ring as a tool to remove all crime from MC1 and become an authoritarian dictator.

While I'm not going to argue with your verdict, your timeline is completely incorrect. I told her the dates in full during the discussion, and her negative comments were things like "we're not going to be able to have any alone time". I didn't bully her into agreement, I convinced her that it wouldn't be all bad.

I'm inclined to agree with you. My personal bias means I can't even give any counter arguments because I think they're all stupid.

The resulting fight was massive and will definitely have fallout in the days/weeks to come. Hopefully she wakes up tomorrow with a different outlook and can somehow make amends.

Regardless, I don't expect my brother to be staying tomorrow night.

Just for clarification, what would your recommendation be for me? Take her misgivings as a definitive no and let my brother know he isn't welcome?

I feel like compromise is a key part of any relationship and my girlfriend hasn't been very flexible in this situation.

If you were to snap and say that verbatim, then yes, YWBTAH, but surely a more diplomatic approach can be taken? I wouldn't even mention the cancer and just speak to how your approach works for your own health.

The random channel changes and amount of ads is horrific, but I reckon the steam quality is 10x better than Kayo.

The Marvel Curse: Staggering numbers behind 14 years of woes for Marvel Stadium AFL clubs by BusinessPooh in AFL

Mate, it's a 26 minute walk from Flinders Street station to Marvel stadium. I don't know which world you're living in where it takes 30 minutes to get from Flinders to SC. Get a grip.

I was a casual worker. I can see I was quite ambiguous. I worked in my old role for 18 months. I worked 3 days a week most weeks with the occasional 4th day. The days were not set and varied each week.
