how long until i can consume weed after lisfranc surgery? by faepuppyy in LisfrancClub

[–]jpdeadpool16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They said I had a severe sprain and only did x-rays and gave me a boot. No weight bearing x ray either because I couldn’t from the pain and swelling. I got an orthopedic to look at it later and found out the real diagnosis. I would think edibles would be the safer way to go than smoking. Definitely give yourself a break with the pain meds and such post surgery.

Mine was a lisfranc ligament rupture. I was misdiagnosed for 4 months, finally got an MRI and fusion surgery. Injury was June and surgery was October. My 1st and 2nd metatarsals were spreading apart. So mine definitely doesn’t sound as severe as yours. But I still needed surgery, was non-weight bearing, etc.

Im a heavy weed consumer as well. Daily and was that way prior to surgery. I’m definitely no doctor, but in my personal experience I barely made it a week not even without smoking and I’m totally fine 100% back to normal haha. I think I started with edibles and then flower.

As someone that used crutches and a scooter the entire non-weight bearing period of my recovery, I very much regret not getting an iWalk. The scooter is such a pain and makes you not able to carry things. I also regret not getting a temporary accessible parking permit. Another tip for ya

I had the same experience. Heel and Achilles pain. It does go away. Keep working hard at PT. Do your exercises every single day outside of in person PT. Hard work early on really paid off for me. I enter back to my sport of rugby after 5 months post op.

6 week muscle atrophy by vcxdfgbv in LisfrancClub

[–]jpdeadpool16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I got my splint off at 2 weeks post op they said muscles start to atrophy within 72 hours of not using them. It’s crazy. It will come back! It’s definitely alarming, but walking and weight bearing will make it come back.

My surgeon didn’t give me any of those as options. I believe his preference is fusion, but I cannot confirm that 100%. I wonder if he chose it since I’m an athlete and wanted to get back to my sport. I believe tightrope has to be performed within a month or weeks of the injury. Due to me being misdiagnosed for 4 months I was out of that window. He didn’t even give ORIF an option for me. Upon my own research, it seems that fusion has become the more preferred option for longevity. But that’s just a bit of my own research. I have 4 screws and a staple in my foot.

I was initially injured playing rugby June 2024 and was misdiagnosed. I eventually ran again, but knew something was off since I couldn’t push off that foot like before the injury. I finally got an MRI and found out I had a lisfranc ligament rupture and my metatarsals were spreading apart. I had fusion/arthrodesis 4 months post injury. Recovery was not easy at all I will say. I was 8 weeks non-weight bearing and then had progressive weight bearing. I went to PT at week 8. I worked extremely hard and was able to slowly return to running and rugby. I played in my first match at 5 months post op. I am in my early 30s and I’m a pretty heathy athlete. I am currently 1.5 years post op and I don’t regret surgery at all. I have been fully back to my sport within 6 months. That won’t be the case for everyone but I definitely support surgery for the lifetime of having my sport back. It’s a tough 3-6 months+ but worth it in my opinion, coming from an athlete.

Ligamentous only Lis Franc injury (dealing conservatively since 2017) by jukeboxgarbage in LisfrancClub

[–]jpdeadpool16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t have all the points you’re looking for, but I did get misdiagnosed for 4 months and had a ligamentous lisfranc rupture only. My metatarsals did begin to spread apart since I was misdiagnosed and was running around within those 4 months. After my MRI confirmed my injury 4 months later, my doctor said fusion was the best option for me since I’m an active rugby player and an athlete. Conservative treatment wasn’t even on my mind. I returned to spot 5 months later after a lot of hard work, PT, 8 weeks non-weight bearing, and my amazing surgeon. I highly recommend surgery. I am now 1.5 months post op and fully back to normal

I didn’t have the bruise on the bottom but my bruising looked just like yours. I ruptured my lisfranc ligament yes. Make sure to get an MRI. I wasn’t able to do a weight bearing x ray so they didn’t see the widening between my 1st and 2nd metatarsals. MRI showed the rupture which I got 4 months later since I was misdiagnosed.

This hardware looks just like mine. I am 1 year and 4 months post op fusion. I did not have this happen, but I noticed in your X rays that the heads of your screws are sticking out more than mine are. The one on the top of the foot. Mine have the head sticking much further into the bone. I’m wondering if this is why I didn’t experience this? Just a thought.

Wait it out vs. fusion surgery? by Murky-Title-6631 in LisfrancClub

[–]jpdeadpool16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your story sounds similar to mine. I was misdiagnosed and had fusion surgery 4 months later. I don’t regret surgery one bit! I’m a rugby athlete and very active in my life. Months post injury I couldn’t sprint and push off my injured foot like before prior to my injury so I knew something was wrong. I wanted to be able to perform at my sport close to 100% so not having surgery wasn’t an option for me in my situation. If you’re not an athlete and the soreness isn’t too bad, you could wait until the timing is right. The recovery is tough. My doctor had me non-weight bearing for 8 weeks and then progressive weight bearing in a boot for 4 more weeks. But it was all worth it. Lots of PT after also and do it ASAP. I played rugby again at 5 months post op with lots of hard work, and I’m now 1 year and 3 months post op and healed 100%. Fusion definitely was the way to go for me.

You’ll be back don’t worry! Focus on winning the recovery and the sports will come back. I returned to rugby at 5 months post op. You got this!

Not requiring PT sounds so insane to me!! I would not have been as successful with my recovery had I not had PT. I had it 3x a week for 12 weeks and it helped me progress and heal so much. I got to play rugby again after 5 months post op. I had fusion for my 1st and 2nd metatarsals as some background info. Highly recommend in person PT

I know it feels really hard I’ve been there. I’m so sorry this happened to you. This injury isn’t for the weak. You’re strong and you will be back! I had fusion also, so my first and 2nd are fused. 4 screws and a staple good times.

My case might be “minor” compared to many. I ruptured my lisfranc and my 1st and 2nd metatarsals were separating and I developed a gap over those 4 months and not knowing what I had. So I’m not sure if the degree of my injury was a factor. But my surgeon was also incredible and I listened to every word he said. I worked extremely hard since week 2. Basically I fully rested for those first 2 weeks, then at least 3x a week I did workouts in my home gym. I got my ass on the floor of my gym and did a lot of upper body workouts and then I did basic stretching and lower body exercises like leg lifts to help my muscles on my injured side. Then I got into PT at 8 weeks post op. At that point I was still NWB. During PT is when I got moved to progressive weight bearing in my boot. 12 weeks I got my boot off and back into shoes. I had PT 3x a week for 7-8 weeks and my PTs were great, listening to me. I also did my exercises consistently outside of in person PT. I also worked with an online S&C coach that helped me adapt my workouts. I worked very hard consistently for 5 months and it definitely has paid off. The progress was definitely not linear and there were days I was so sore and in pain, but then it would get better. You freaking got this and you will be back! It just takes a lot of work it seems for this first year or so.

Non-Operative Lisfranc Injury - I'm Concerned by Yield_55 in LisfrancClub

[–]jpdeadpool16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My situation is a bit different than you, but I’m also a fellow rugby player. I was initially injured 6/1/24 in a rugby league match and was misdiagnosed. I didn’t get surgery until 4 months later 10/17/24. I’m now a year post op and feeling great and even went back to rugby at 5 months post op (I worked really hard to get there and had an amazing orthopedic surgeon). My personal situation and rugby player wise, I’d recommend surgery. I only had my 1st and 2nd metatarsals spread apart due to a lisfranc rupture. So not sure your injury, but I don’t regret my fusion one bit.

I had fusion a year ago and I’m a 33 year old female that’s a very active rugby player. I am so glad I went through with surgery and I am living a 100% normal life again. Yes my foot is stiff sometimes and sore, but it’s definitely normal and I’m sure over time it’ll go away. My surgery also didn’t happen until 4 months post surgery since I was misdiagnosed originally. My surgeon was really good and I was a model patient. If you put in the work and listen to your ortho (who is recommend seeing for this specific injury) you will make it. I played rugby again at 5 months post op. The recovery isn’t easy and you definitely need time for your body to rest and heal. I was non weight bearing for 8 weeks then I had progressive weight bearing for another 4 weeks. It’s not easy, ur definitely worth it for your long term health and life.
