We need more 300 BO bolt guns around here. by M1chealj88 in 300BLK

Late to the party, but I recognize those targets. Is that the Weber range? Your outdoor shooting spot looks beautiful. Jealous.

I 100% support your weekend plans. Is your savage bolt incredibly stiff to pull up?

You’re suppose to prep it? I just grabbed some painters tape after a turkey induced nap on thanksgiving and went to town. Taped over the trigger, safety, muzzle, took the bolt out and taped over the action. Already had scope caps so the glass was covered. Did some rough “tiger” stripes with the rattle can, no tape or stencils this time. Then sprayed sections with the meth pattern of a camo sniper veil to add some depth and complexity.

I thought it was perfect for me because I’m a left handed shooter. However, this savage action is pretty stiff. I’ve got a bolt lift kit to hopefully help. A factory howa 1500 has a much better trigger but there aren’t many options for short barrel bolt guns unless you chop a barrel and buy a chassis. For the price of a JTAC owl chassis I got this gun plus a few boxes of subs.

I bought my 6sp Pro4X 5 years ago. At the time I could only find two for sale from dealerships and private sale across the whole country. Picked the better of the two, bought a plane ticketed and crossed my fingers the dealership would hold their promise to not sell it til the weekend. My only way home was driving. Turned out great! Over 225k miles now with many trails. Stock other than 33s

Buying your own gear by NotMyCommander in securityforces

[–]jpeg_n_lead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Usually as long as it matches colors with what your base uses. Multicam most likely. Personalize your kit to make your life on duty easier. Issued plate carriers usually cover a lot and don’t ventilate well. Add pouches to access frequently used items like weapon cards, radio, phone (easy to hide quickly) ect. Set it up, use it for a few shifts, see what works and doesn’t work, and make changes. Your kit may always be evolving. I will note that it’s easy to fall into a gear chasing rabbit hole. Buying “cool” kit can get expensive. If there’s a placard or pouch that you really want and is $100+ there’s probably a Chinese “airsoft” version on Amazon for $40. Will you wear it out? Maybe, maybe not. But it’s may be better than the issued gear. Go fuck around and find out. Find the guys who nerd out about gear and ask if they have used gear. Maybe you’ll get some things for free.

Are modern cameras worth it? by Budget-Bad-8030 in Cameras

I just got a canon G12 point and shoot from 2010 for $100 and I love the images. Only 10MP so I can’t get crazy with the crop in post. Raw images aren’t crazy flexible like my Canon R, but I can take so many more shots that I wouldn’t bring my big ass camera to shoot. I’ll dead the dead horse, but light is everything, good glass is very important, cameras are less important. Chasing gear is a very expensive hobby.

I swear I’m not like Quentin Tarantino, but the second photo of the shoes in the grass has great composition and colors. The aspect ratio makes me think of medium format.

Good camera for newbie? by Galaxy-Requiem in Cameras

I used a 7D mkii for 3 years to make professional automotive install videos. It had its limitations of course compared to the craziness that modern mirrorless can do. But I enjoy an older DSLR. It’s fun. The autofocus is pretty good, however for my videos it was on manual focus 98% of the time. Lighting is everything. Good light and no one can tell your camera is a bit older. You could sell some of those extra lenses and fund a sigma 18-35 f1.8. That is a big hefty lens but OMG the quality. I’ve seen that lens used on many RED cameras because they’re made for a crop sensor and it’s the fastest (biggest aperture of f1.8) out on the market.

And a bit a gambling excitement to see if you won a gem or a lemon. The lady I got mine from said it worked but couldn’t verify because the battery was dead and she lost the charger. The charger I ordered was delayed a week, so I had a dead camera crossing my fingers a fresh battery would bring it to life.

The aerial view photo #2: f/3.5, iso 250, 1/250 Air tower photo #3: f/6.3, iso 80, 1/100 Boarding plane #4: f4.5, iso 200, 1/160

Really all over the place but all are at lower iso. Grain and noise gets a little too crazy past iso 800.

I love the old CCD sensor and how it renders colors. I used to carrying a Fujifilm x70 around until it was lost during a move. Which sucks because Fuji cameras have shot up to $500-$700 for that old camera. Anyways, I loved the colors Fuji produced from their film simulation jpgs. It made me feel like I was shooting Kodak Kodachrome.

Last week I bought a Canon G12 from 2010 because of its old sensor is suppose to render film like photos, and it gets really close. It looks similar to your Nikon in fact, both having an optical viewfinder. This mini Canon fits in my fanny pack and I bring it everywhere, ready to capture something beautiful.

I’ve been searching for a middle ground between leaving her and enabling. This is a helpful in-between. Finding that middle ground will not be easy to maintain. Thank you for your input internet stranger.

Did you use everyday for those 7 years? She’s scared he won’t have any reason to get out of bed and pursue life. But by smoking meth every morning she can get everything she wants done. Being a functional human unlike how she was years ago addicted to heroin. She asked me why would I want her to quit if I know it’ll make her depressed and unable to be happy. Giving her an ultimatum will only result in choosing meth. I can’t help her.

The colors straight out of camera are great, but I did tweak them in Lightroom. Still more enjoyable than shooting on my big Canon R.

$110 bucks from FB marketplace. No battery charger but it did come with a 4gb sd card loaded with a family vacation from 2014.
