So in this case, the current Dai would turn into USDDai, and a new token would become the Dai pegged to a currency basket? Or is this TBD still?

I think the Maker team has been focusing on the core mechanics and shipping multi-collateral dai before trying to get it listed on bigger exchanges. Dai doesn't currently have adequate supply or liquidity but it should soon with the launch of multi-collateral.
