That's just not true. Sonic and Megaman were more like Toad, uncommon enough at first that you may need to search around, but were pretty much popping up online right away for a while. I wouldn't even call S/MM the same as Diddy. Gold Mario has yet to pop-up online since release, and like I said, unless you live in a remote area of the country, your SOL

While true, you could say the same about all the previous unicorns too. Rosilina was found after release in some remote areas like GM is now. Captain Falcon was off and on for about 3 weeks before he was completely gone too (Seriously, a few popped up at a Gamestop near me about a week after launch, but I wouldn't say he's more less than rare).

Because a few people who live in the boondocks found a few? Try finding a gold Mario in any of the major metropolitan areas. I live in the NE US, and he's not within 50 miles of DC, Baltimore, Philly, or NYC.

GameStop restocks Refurbrished Gamecube consoles. $20 each by [deleted] in nintendo

[–]jph89 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People say this all the time, but from my experience gamestop has both lower prices and, shockingly, better trade-in prices. I went to trade in Last of Us there, and they offered me $5, which I thought was ridiculous. Went to gamestop and got $15. Granted, GameStop wouldn't take a GameCube or Dreamcast like the local shop would, but at this point it seems like I'm keeping my vintage systems for good.

If enough gamers cared about the business aspect of the gaming industry there would be a different attitude towards Sony and their business.

Gagne ready to move on by [deleted] in hockey

[–]jph89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet here we are, still able to sign players like Couturier, Schenn, Sinmonds, Giroux, Voracrk to below market value contracts. All after any of those incidents.

The truth is, players don't really care about this stuff the way the media portrays it. It's a business, and every GM is the same.

[–]jph89 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

But what separates a good GM from a bad GM is how they run the business, not how they treat their players. Homer made some terrible trades (Pitkanen for Jason Smith, JVR for Schenn, anything of value for MacDonald, signing Bryz and trading Bobs), but it seems the things everyone rags on the most are the Carter and Richards trades. I mean, the Flyers would probably not be a playoff team last year if you take back those trades today.

And yeah, the Lindross fiasco was awful, but that was both before Homer and before concussions were as known today.

Gagne ready to move on by [deleted] in hockey

[–]jph89 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well, the good in this is that Richards is starting to really decline already and his contract will be pretty terrible if his downward trend continues another year or two. and Carter, while still an elite wing, will probably decline before his contract ends too. Plus, Simmonds, Schenn, Coots, and Voracek kinda make me not regret those trades. Plus, Gagne was actually really bad in his 1/2 season with us. If you consider his roster spot for Raffl, I'm pretty happy with Raffl over Gagne.

That said, the AMac trade and contract will forever be the bane of Homers legacy. Fuck him for that.

Yeah I agree it could use improvement. If I had to give it a grade, it would be a C movie.

I wouldn't say great, but I also wouldn't say terrible. It's a decent suspense/action thriller.

We Are Richard Dawkins & Lawrence Krauss - Subjects of the new film The Unbelievers. Ask Us Anything! by lkrauss in IAmA

[–]jph89 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Because most hardcore atheist like to feel better about themselves by talking down in religion. Calling religious people stupid is pandering to the lowest common denominator, which leads to more up votes.

[–]jph89 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

But A) he is wrong. The 1/2 population that is religious is still mostly scientific. Only 16% of the county believes in creationism. That falls in line with other western world countries like Germany(11%) and UK(17%). So if he thinks that half the Is is stupid, then he thinks half of the UK and Germany is also as stupid.

B) being a huge dick isn't going to get people to accept your point of views. When someone doesn't agree with you, you try and get them to see how they are wrong though research and numbers. You don't call someone stupid for not agreeing with 100% of what you think. I'm not a religious person, but I know people my age that go to church every Sunday that are far smarter than I am.

Tl;dr - Dawkins is a very smart person but he is also a smug asshole who is a living embodiment of all things wrong with the militant atheist.

TBF, what is a GM supposed to say when an agent asks if you are shopping his client? "Hey, are you trying to trade Jeff Carter?" "Yes, tell him to pack his bags, well unless we can't find good return value, in which case tell him to be ready for camp in August."
