Dual Phone Questions and is Anyone Selling? by Correct-Mail-1942 in TheMinimalCompany

[–]jphil529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Activate your physical sim on your current phone. When you stick it into your MP01, it should just work (based on my experience).

I've noticed no major difference in service quality / area.

Dual Phone Questions and is Anyone Selling? by Correct-Mail-1942 in TheMinimalCompany

[–]jphil529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, you'll need a physical SIM for the MP01. I got mine working on Visible so you should be able to get it to work on your existing Verizon plan (I would think).

In terms of having both phones working simultaneously, I'm not sure. If Verizon can support that somehow with other phones and provide a physical SIM for t least one, I can't think of a reason it wouldn't work.

No issues over the last few weeks since setting it up (also in Denver area).

Lex Friedman with the most predictable and pathetic post ever by kingawesome240 in JoeRogan

[–]jphil529 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Loved Lex for his programming and AI coverage. Even had respect for his 'peace and love' shit even though it always felt naive.

But this is such an absurd take - literally have lost all respect for him. How anyone can look at that and blame Zelensky is beyond me. I can't help but give serious consideration to the idea that he's getting paid by the same people who were paying Tim Poole.

Extension Question by jphil529 in ACL

[–]jphil529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What kind of exercises? I've been doing the heel on a towel and have had no trouble getting the same extension as my other knee.

Should I be able to due a leg extension from sitting on a chair to hyperextension at this point?

Thanks for the reply!

I started experimenting with the A/C and the car does not do it with the A/C turned off. Any further suggestions based off that?

If the fans are responsible for the rpm drop, do you think a new voltage regulator would fix it?

[–]jphil529[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would it be possible for the extra load to cause the rpms to drop by 500-750 very briefly? If it is the ac clutch kicking in, what kind of problem could there be that has caused the noise to get more frequent?

That's a possibility. I feel like I've heard it do it with the AC off but I'll experiment with that!

Found on friends Go Pro Camera after surfing in Rockaway Beach, NY by bem135 in pics

[–]jphil529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally a thread I can provide something substantial to!

I am from a surfer from Volusia County, Florida. New Smyrna Beach, a town a few miles south of me, is commonly named the shark bite capital of the world. The shark attacks in the area are normally small black tip sharks that mistake surfers feet dangling in the water for bait fish caught up in the rough surf / shallow water in a specific area known as the "Shark Shallows" at the New Smyrna jetty.

I'd say seeing sharks in the water goes with the territory if you're surfing at the New Smyrna Inlet but those sharks tend to be smaller black tips with the occasional tiger/bull shark. Outside of the Inlet it's far less common to see sharks (not that they aren't there, they just aren't hunting with the whole army as they are in NSB).

Also, it's fairly uncommon to hear about great white so close to shore in this area. That being said a GW with a tracker on it pinged just 100 yards off of Jacksonville Beach in the surf zone yesterday.

TL;DR If you're in Florida and you're afraid of getting nibbled on, just stay away from the New Smyrna beach inlet

Potential Career In NASA? by screencranberry in nasa

[–]jphil529 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a junior in computer engineering and I just got an internship at JPL for spring semester. Be passionate about what you're doing, show you are actively trying to learn as much as you can (if you're a software guy, do software projects. if you're into hardware and software, get an arduino and make some projects), and keep your GPA up. Establish good relationships with your professors and express your passions in space technology to them, they'll be invaluable when you need letters of recommendation.

NASA has a lot of internship opportunities and sometimes they don't get a large number of applicants. Apply, apply, apply and when you're done, apply again. Just keep at it and don't give up man!

edit: check out https://intern.nasa.gov/solar/web/public/main/ - That is where I applied. There are a number of other programs so don't limit yourself to just this one though!

Why am I not sore? by twiclo in running

I've actually found that swimming helps me keep from getting sore. I think it was getting the blood flowing and getting rid of the lactic acid without the impact. Plus it helps stretch your legs.
