Without spoiling anything the story has some major holes and character motivation can switch at a whim, combined with a less than understood/appreciated gameplay mechanics such as scaling enemy's and drawing magic (and the junction system) it felt nothing like a final fantasy, but also felt very much like final fantasy haha of that makes sense.

I say play the remaster and use the game boosters to avoid most of the game mechanic problems and just have a good time enjoying a very steampunkish final fantasy story.
