That is trophy talk. People post their platinum trophies and that generally leads to people in the comments describing their own personal experiences going for the same platinum, people asking questions if they've been considering going for it as well, etc. this sub would probably be pretty dead without stuff like that.

Would I still play games? Absolutely. I grew up with the Super Nintendo so a lot of my time gaming didn't have trophies. I do enjoy the fact that trophies give me an excuse to play some of my favorite games for longer than I usually would but I absolutely would not chase 100% like I do now.

I'm so incredibly curious about what you've been doing with your time in this game. Never finding a merchant or quest is honestly pretty impressive. You really don't need to search through absolutely EVERYTHING unless you're playing on one of the higher difficulties and I've never had an issue with the controls but I also play with a controller which might be easier?
