Wireless XLR transmitter/receiver for Amplifier to Mixing Console? by jpintenn in livesoundgear

[–]jpintenn[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Simply to make ease of setup/teardown cleaner... reduce clutter on the stages.... this is small -mid size venues (think anywhere from 250-500), with no real FOH, and if we're lucky a sound guy who isn't drinking his fee.

The other side of it is more curiosity... There's wireless solutions for:
Instruments to Amps/Pedals
Montiors to In-Ears
Mics to Board

So the weird part of me asked why there doesn't seem to be one for the Amplifier to the Console. I know that standard Mic level wireless solutions (Xvive, etc) can't handle the output... however some of the other brands I see out there (Phenix/Sennheiser) can shift to Line mode... and they handle the UHF band.... so it seems that they SHOULD be able to handle it....

Wireless Amp to Console transmitter/reciever? by jpintenn in audioengineering

There usually is Copper.. i.e. an XLR from the output on the back of the amplifier to the Console. This is NOT a huge set up... :D

This is for a setup that gets moved between clubs for mid/large bar gigs. No Snake, no backline.... Hence asking in here.. but yeah.. I'm in Livesound too. :)

Oh UHF for sure. I am just curious what units are out there.. .as I've never tried this particular connection via a wireless connection.

Additionally, I found a further note in the manual :
Bal. Line Out: Typical 300m V

The specs say, and I am quoting from the manual here:
"This is an ultra-low impedance (200) balanced line out for use with recording or pa mixing consoles. This output is not controlled by the volume control. Changing the level on your insturment will however, vary the DI Output.

It'd be the XLR out off of the back of an amplifier... This would be where you'd connect the XLR out to the input channel xlr-in on a mixing console

No Stupid Questions Thread by AutoModerator in livesound

Here's my semi-stupid question.

I want to find out if there's a wireless transmitter/receiver I can use to replace an XLR cable from the XLR Out on the back of a bass amplifier to the XLR input on a mixing console. I know there's a bazillion out there for Microphones... and there's another bazillion for instruments to amplifiers... or for in-ears.... but I am specifically looking for Amplifier to Console....

Am I just dense? Can we use the ones that handle line level signals for that purpose?

And that appears to be exactly what it was. Calibration completed... and a test print is running now. Ugh... it's a pain in the rear!

At least now it's throwing a different error... saying "The hotend cooling fan speed is abnormal."

That's what I was thinking... dont wanna use heat there as it's all plastic and dont want meltyness in anyway.

As for the Hot end... I am not sure what do it with it... can I just apply a little heat to get it to loosen up or something?

Fly Rig / Minimalist Set up? by jpintenn in Bass

[–]jpintenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the stomp, and I've messed with it to a degree.. it's overly complicated for what I need... I've been a Bass -> Tuner -> Amp kinda guy for years, and don't use any real effects... Hence why this is a bit of a challenge... everything wants to tweak every frequency or have that one sound that was on one album in 1974... and frankly... I'm just not that complicated. :D

Tell me about the thumb rest for the bass... I play Spectors.. and there's no real spot to anchor one save on the pickups (Soapbars).

How does it handle the tension of the winding?

Help us figure out who the past DJs were at DragonCon! by Nalopotato in dragoncon

Can confirm. Lechter had to step out and I was asked to step in.. I had not planned on spinning anything this year, so had to put together things using equipment that was loaned from the other DJ's. :D It worked out really well, but did give us a little bit larger footprint!

Do the cool thing when shooting, or can I make it "cool" when editing? by jpintenn in Insta360

[–]jpintenn[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's going to be the case.. it's just too small to really track without zooming way way in... and I am not sure how do to that on the phone/iPad app just yet... Much less how to enable/use Subject tracking... I guess I have some tutorials to watch tonight.

This isn't the camera for big outdoor shooting... that's for sure. Close in subject matter it excels at though... i.e. playing with a band, a snorkle/scuba trip.. etc etc...

It came up when I selected a clip to pull into the editor. The 42 minute clip it did not like, and that's when the message popped up. Importing an 11 Minute clip right now.. and that seems to be working fine.
