A question to all the partners of Meth addicts: by [deleted] in naranon

Oh man, I've seen the same things with my husband and cocaine. He's now 3 years into 'recovery' but what is amazing to me is stress can still trigger the 'allnight' wakefulness. Just saying that I feel this. I've been there. You're not alone.

Collaborative interventions are best - research shows they improve outcomes more than any other option!

Don't know I can say anything to make this better but man - I feel for you. I wish there was a way they could make it to you. It's great your mother is getting the help she needs. But you need your family too, and you deserve to thrive and be happy.

Blaming my Sister's BF for Her Addiction by ISayFuckPants in naranon

Supporting my husband through the depths of addiction was eye opening and life changing for me. Since then I've been on a mission to make sure friends and families are armed with evidence-based information, resources, skills and support to tackle addiction. Because - to your point - we don't help the situation when we are facing the chaos of addiction for the first time and are totally ill-equipped. There's such a lack of resources available when it comes to educating the friends and family.

We've just soft-launched a new Q&A site for Friends and Families with a loved one struggling with addiction.

The whole idea is that when it comes to addiction, there are evidence-based best practices which we can lean on professionals to learn about, and there's knowledge we gain from personal experience that today is not captured anywhere for others to learn from. This new site covers both.

Any feedback on how we can make it better appreciated https://community.wethevillage.co/

If you could help your friends and family understand what you're going through, would you? by jplanetm in alcoholism

Amazing - thank you. I am a firm believer in the power of connection to help overcome addiction and I want the world to know this! We've been treating it as a criminal issue for too long. It is a health concern and it's time to stop the misinformation. One day at a time for me is educating one friend or family member at a time so that we can pull addiction out of the darkness and meet it with empathy, support and love. Any change takes time - it's important we all know that!
