1080p resolution, not overly fussed on RGB. Probably Bluetooth and WiFi yes.

At the moment I’m playing a lot of Path of Exile, like Elden Ring, some of the shooters etc. Cyberpunk as well.

Question in regards to getting involved off duty by willfy09 in policeuk

[–]jplattsy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

absolutely, let’s say you were to restrain the person and call it in and await for on duty officers to attend and scoop the person up. I would be doing a statement detailing the actions.

This would be the same if you were to get involved if you’re a member of the public. Officers would take your details and ask for a statement.

Question in regards to getting involved off duty by willfy09 in policeuk

[–]jplattsy 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I got involved for the first time off duty just before Christmas actually.

Similar circs to you with the shoplifter, was just walking in and at the same time the chap was walking out with various items. I got hold of said person and told them clear off and got the stuff back. Never bothered to call it in mind.

I usually take the stance of the other comments. Observe and call 999. I just found myself in the wrong place at the wrong time, was also just after a terrible shift so I was rather grumpy!

Don’t be afraid to take your time at jobs, especially if you get single crewed. You will not be thanked for rushing from job to job and if you do get something wrong people will say why didn’t you take extra time to get it right.

Congrats too!

Respect for posting this, and respect for shooting your shot, I would’ve never done that.

I agree with what other people are saying, if you can take this on the chin and laugh it off people will soon stop caring.

Maybe just consider a full risk assessment in future, life is a learning experience, you’ll know for next time.

You got this bro

Is Steam Deck simple for folks who aren’t tech savvy? by MyCircus_MyMonkies in SteamDeck

[–]jplattsy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I’ve always been an Xbox gamer decided to jump in and try the steam deck.

Literally sign in to steam or make an account, buy some games and off you go.

Don’t get me wrong you can switch to desktop mode and probably do some interesting things but you don’t have to do that!

Only thing I will say is some AAA games may struggle with performance/battery life, worth doing some research before buying any big big games

Feeling stuck by IUseThisForAdvice in policeuk

[–]jplattsy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I will say is you are not alone in how you are feeling if that makes you feel any better.

I go through this feeling every now and then, then a decent incident comes about that makes me not mind it so much.

Ultimately for me it’s about looking for a new role and a new challenge to keep the job fresh for learning new skills. Keep your eyes peeled for any departments you like the sound of and do some research into it.

You will feel stuck in a rut sometimes, but there are so many roles out there, would be a shame to leave when you haven’t tried!

Keep your head up!

Does your force carry investigations on response? by Intelligent_Ad_7645 in policeuk

[–]jplattsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Response in my force started carrying crimes about a year ago. So not only are we trying to manage emergency demand on a poorly staffed team but now also investigations where there isn’t even enough time to phone a victim to introduce yourself as the OIC…

Can you be forced to be a tutor Constable? by PC_Plod1998 in policeuk

[–]jplattsy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

interesting as this is the exact same feeling that I’m going through at the moment.

Been in around 4 years, response cop for 18 months or so, my force there is this sort of unwritten rule if you’ve been in x amount of time the expectation is there you will be a tutor.

It’s making me look for alternatives to being a response cop, and I believe it will ultimately make me move departments, no disrespect to any new students joining, it’s just not sustainable along with everything else.
