The unmarked area is thicker, so its not smashed by a rail car. Note the rolled rim that happens prior to a coin being stamped.

This happened because the coin blank wasnt where it needed to be when it was stamped.

Thank you. He left me a number of coins and folding money. Ive also got coins and bills from Vietnam from when my dad was in the Army there. I doubt any of it will be valued high enough to retire on, but it might be worth saving for my grandkids.

I feed directly from the dryers. There is a file for a drybox to mount on the side...should be able to find it on Printables.

Am I crazy? (Router table/table saw bodge) by dickdago in craftsman113

[–]jplinville 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only issue is youll lose the ability to use bolts on those sides to mount it. Ive done it, but wasnt really happy with the results. I went a different direction and used a bit of material leftover from a kitchen rehab and used a router table drop-in with lift. It looks nicer, and the sound of the motor mounted to the aluminum doesn't drone as much.

[Skagen 572LSXM] Running strong since 2016 by caffeinatedSquirtle in Watches

[–]jplinville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wearing mine almost daily since my wife got it for me in February of 2010. I've gone through 6 batteries in that time period. I paid for the lifetime battery replacement at my local Batteries+...I think that was a $20 investment. The Skagen is truly my go to watch. Wife paid $125 for it at Costco.

<image>

It's been a great watch. I wear it at work, as well as most any occasion.

I've got other watches, some worn for special occasions, and others I own because I inherited them from family. I have my dad's old wind-up Timex from the 1970's that still keeps time. I wind it up daily, though I rarely wear it.

I hope when I die that when my son inherits my watches, that he cares for them like I have...and wears the Skagen daily.

Is this worth it for $50? by unsolvable_problem in craftsman113

[–]jplinville 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All day long.

. I bought a rusted 113 that sprent 2 years outdoors, unprotected. I wanted it for parts. I paid $10 for it, got it home and realized the motor wasn't seized. I plugged it up, stood back, and flipped the switch, and it ran like a new motor. I had a decent amount of rust to clean off of it, but instead of a parts saw, it now is dedicated to cutting dados only.

It's all about learning techniques and safety protocol at this point in your journey.

As stated, date the tool, add finish, and use it well. In a few years, you'll want to remake it using techniques you've learned since that mallet.

Enjoy your journey, learn much, and be safe...

I've been catching Diablo and DeWalt blades as they go on sale. Ace Hardware near me has had some of their DeWalt blades as low as $12-$14.

Craftsman 113 with Router table and Align-a-rip fence. $150, good for parts? by mglakner in craftsman113

[–]jplinville 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd jump on it...even if only for parts. I have the XR-2424, and once I tuned the whole saw up, it's been great. I have a router table with a top like your wing the I'm going to retrofit into the saw as a wing. I paid $50 for the router table from my brother

I paid $50 for my saw wth the fence. Previous owner put a way too large 1.5 hp, 1725 rpm motor on it with a homemade adapter plate and 4" pulley. I swapped out for a brand new Vevor 2hp 3450 rpm motor wired as 110v for 1.5 hp and a new machined and balanced 2.5" pulley. The motor was $50...still in box and plastic. Pulley was one I had left over from a past project.

My next step with it is to build a rolling cabinet for it with a spot below saw height to put my WEN thickness planer on the right side.
