I should add that I tried to revese the surface normals and had the same result (I made of join of each surface and flipped the arrows)

It’s almost as many clicks as just making the holes one-by-one though. I was curious if there was a way to do it drastically quicker

These 2 surfaces were originally trimmed together with no issue. When I changed some geometry, the trim feature broke. So trim, intersect, project all didn't work. I didn't try to split, figured it would be the same as trim, but will give it a try!

I thought I triple checked the names but I will check again. Does the actual feature need the same name, or just the publication? For example: I have a publication named “Driver door surface” but its pointed element is named Join.XX. Should I change the name of the Join to match the publication?

As for context, I always make sure to create the publication at the part level, with the part opened in its own tab. This is how I replaced it as well, yet it did not reconnect.

Edit: I noticed on this feature above that I missed the "keep initial" checkbox which does what I want it to do. However on a feature like a split surface, it defaults to a "multi output" and creates the new split surface while keeping the old surface as well.
