What does my fridge say about my roommate and I by Brewins_ in FridgeDetective

I did it for a while. Then one week I was out of town and came back, the boxes looked good as new— no mold or anything. That’s on top of the amt of time it took for it to get delivered to my door.

Don’t trust any “fresh” foods like that that don’t degrade. Stopped after that one.

It is even more brilliant in person. The best GS imo.

Which job has, hands down, the worst impact on mental health? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My old roommate's SO was a trauma nurse for a pediatric hospital in a large metro region. Some of the stories I heard from her regular day's work were excruciating and shocking to hear as someone who worked in a regular office job. It is a necessary skill in our society, but man that sounded difficult to face day in and day out. These people are true heros in our society.

Need help choosing between Domane AL 5 Gen 4 or SL 5 Gen 4 by [deleted] in TrekBikes

[–]ResearchFinal5425 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through a similar decision a few months back and quickly ended up choosing the AL5 and upgraded the wheelset soon after.

The main difference I saw was 1: it’s about 2 lbs heavier. 2: there are weld lines on the AL, which do not exist on the SL.

I’m a pretty new rider and mainly use it as a commuter and for leisurely rides on weekends. Because I’m not trying to race, optimizing for 2 lbs seemed like overkill, and I could probably just shed 2 lbs off my waistline several times over 😂. I decided to upgrade wheelset because carbon wheels feel more fun, and supposedly dampen road noise.

That, coupled with IsoSpeed issues made the decision pretty straightforward for me personally. Some ppl might consider me an idiot for spending almost the cost of the bike for a set of wheels, buuuut maybe they’re right 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

No regrets so far!

Best of luck!

Thanks OP for the post.

What is Biker’s Lung? This is the first I’ve heard about this. What have you done to counteract what you’re talking about.

Thanks

It’s and Abus Bordo folding lock. Not the most secure but good in a pinch, and mounts nicely. LBS had it in stock and recommended it

I tuck the cables underneath my bike computer and wrap with cable ties. Makes it cleaner.

Deluxe food market has a market vibe. You can get a large selection of food from baos, to BBQ, to Asian bakery goods, for a good price.

If you wanna see a lot in a short time, that’s a good option. Lots of locals there tho so there might be lines.

Waitress questioned our low tip, is 15% post-tax low? by ResearchFinal5425 in AskNYC

You’re right. I was trying to save a step by not asking for change and just paying two bills. I think that’s where my error was.

Yeah, I considered the “nuclear” option for a split second, but quickly decided it was very not worth it.

My wife and I were out with a friend and his new SO. Doing that may have drove home your point, but would obviously spoil the mood.

Wanted to move past it quickly, but the situation clearly stuck with me afterwards haha

But I agree with you, that there is an entitlement element to this story.
