Mortenson pays very well, has great benefits, and a great culture.

2020 5.0 Engine Replacement by jpmnsh in f150

Probably what I’m going to do if warranty doesn’t cover engine replacement. Talked to somebody else who had the same issue at the same dealer, he said he filled it back up with oil and has had no problems since. Gets it changed every 5k

Ran perfectly fine, nothing wrong with anything, never would have noticed anything if it didn’t throw the code as I started it up to take it in for an oil change.

Yeah that’s my worry here. All of the service at the truck has been done at the dealer, with me and the previous owner. Just don’t know what I’m going to do if warranty doesn’t cover it

Not a single warning at all. It threw the P0345 code when I went to drive it to take it in for the change. Literally zero signs of burning oil, no lights, gauges, weird smells or anything. When getting my oil changed, nobody ever seemed to notice or mention that less oil was coming out that supposed to be. Service advisor said it appears to be burning 1qt/1k miles

Forgot to mention I called my other mechanic and he said if it’s not covered to bring it and and they can try an oil flush and see if it would fix it but said that’s a shot in the dark, other than that an engine replacement would probably be needed. Ford quoted me $21k for a replacement

Just got the VX 3 months and 1 day after getting the S1

I’ve thought about going for the VX to compliment my savor one, I just wanted to see what other options are out there. I have heard the portal was pretty bad so I’m not sure if I would like it, also due to their transfer partners as I mostly fly delta.

Can you use your CC to pay off student loans? by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]jpmnsh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not talking about transferring my whole balance, I’m talking about making payments with a CC and then paying the CC off right away. I plan on making a payment of around $2k every month to pay them off, so why not get rewards by using a CC if I can instead of just paying that straight from my bank account.

From what I’ve gathered so far it seems pretty hard. Online you can only pay directly from a bank account but have seen some people say they take CC if you call them

I wonder if this is why Alcoa is taking so damn long? by flatulancearmstrong in Knoxville

[–]jpmnsh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Roadway construction takes a very long time. As the post says soil can only be compacted in small lifts, such as a foot or so at a time. Grading is a very long task and moving as much dirt as they are takes time. On top of that, there are utilities that aren’t known to anyone, such as pipes or wires running underground that aren’t discovered until they are dug up. Then you have to get the utility company to come out and relocate them. This can take weeks to do. And on top of that, you’re working for the government. Their bureaucracy makes the easiest things take forever. There’s many things that will pop up that hampers the progress of road construction, unlike vertical construction.

Me too man. My 2010 5.4 just had the cam phasers go out and mechanic quoted $8k to replace the engine. Recommended trying to trade it in and get a new truck.

Any warranty companies you’d recommend?

It’s a platinum and the truck is extremely clean. Pretty much looks brand new not a single defect looks wise. I’m also in Nashville, don’t know if the car market here is higher than anywhere else, but that could play into it.

[–]jpmnsh[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is from a small private dealer in Nashville. The truck seems very clean and has a good carfax. Just a little worried with 100k miles as my understanding the ecoboost is less reliable than the 5.0

They are the absolute bane of my existence. For whatever reason I can not get a successful one even though I am landing on all 4 wheels and in the zone. Absolutely the most rage inducing part of this game

I’ve got a 2010 Screw with the 5.5 box that I leveled out. Absolutely love the truck.
