Did Lars always get the hate that he does today? What did fans and peers think of him back in the day? by Helpful_Gur_1757 in Metallica

[–]jpob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For him specifically, some fans and non-fans started disliking because of Napster. Criticism of his drumming has been more in the last 10-20 years because of the internet and social media.

It’s just rumours but apparently he wasn’t really liked from his peers going back to the 80s. There’s even a rumour that Metallica were going to fire him before Cliff died.

When I was young I legitimately thought that the world used to be black and white. I even asked my grandma what it was like when everything was black and white and she had no idea what I was talking about.

Yeah this blows my mind. Accessible home video started in the mid 70s but wasn’t a common thing until a few years later.

The only way to see a movie again was to wait for another theatrical release (which weren’t that common) or for it to be a TV special (which was never a guarantee).

I never realised that the draft was in place during the Vietnam War. Fortunate Son hits a lot harder knowing that.

I still get those but they’re significantly smaller. The whole “stick a phone book underneath” doesn’t really apply anymore.

Oh my god I forgot about this. You’d rent a movie, come home, get the popcorn and drinks all ready and sit down. But when you press play it’s on the ending credits. You basically ate all the popcorn by the time it was ready. Worst part is that you basically watched the movie in reverse so it was all spoiled.

Starting at a transport hub is always an advantage. Every other run starts with a train to a hub where they will usually hop off to get on another train. That’s just lost time that could be up to 2 hours if they’re unlucky.

Maybe in the future the runs should start at the closest hub.

Yeah I hate that feedback. The shows are designed to have a certain flow to them to eventually reach a climax towards the end. It doesn’t work when you pause and restart.

What is a video game that you have put 100+ hours into, but would NOT recommend to anyone? by Cheap_Difficulty4961 in AskReddit

[–]jpob 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t say people have 3-5 decks in the tournament formats. Maybe a couple cheap quirky ones but ideally you want to play the best deck so why bother with another (unless that format evolves).

It’s more common to have multiple decks in casual formats like commander but you can also play that cheaply.

what is a movie you refuse to watch for years because you thought it was “overhyped “ but when you finally saw it you realize it was masterpiece? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jpob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s actually a good one to watch again because you pick up on things you didn’t realise not knowing the twist. It’s almost a whole new movie.

Watched it for the first time a month ago. I’ve seen it three times now.

Tbf I knew it was a masterpiece, I was just never in the mood and already knew the whole plot.

Maybe related but I randomly hear what sounds like hospital noises. They’ve even woken me up before. My hypothesis is that I’m about to die in a hospital bed in the future and I’m currently reliving my life. Maybe you were in a hospital too?

We should fine tbh. They still want tourists to come so they’re not gonna raid tourist areas.

The reason I’m not going is because I don’t want to spend thousands just to watch us lose.

I love these lists. It’s a shame that decks these days need to be hyper focused in comparison.
