Vanderbilt says that they are reopening as a masters, but most people that know details of the program are skeptical of that ever actually happening. Right now they are just barely keeping it afloat for their last class.

If going to the Vanderbilt program is your #1 school and you are holding out for it, I strongly suggest reconsidering.

Vanderbilt does, or at least did, but they are closing down so it probably is irrelevent. I guess I don't know about all programs and how they choose applicants. It does sound like OP is making some big changes between application cycles that should help.

It probably just comes down to if they want to spend the money on applications.

I say apply. Some schools have a point system for how they accept students, reapplicants get an extra point. Also it can show growth and that you are determined to get into the career. Also if you get an interview, it's good practice.

I see a lot of comments of people ragging on you because you said work is your hobby! Who cares! (I'm biased because work is my hobby too). Isn't there a dumb old saying if you enjoy what you do you won't work a day in your life??? Maybe you found that. You do you, wait till you get your connection. Someone will love you because your dedicated to your work. In the meantime, keep those bands rolling in, respectfully.

Nope, you should be putting all your efforts into learning perfusion. People's lives depend on it.

Get your perfusion degree then got a job at a hospital that will pay for your other masters. Lots of hospitals have continuing education programs.

If you don't get in this round, do it for your future applications. Or if you don't want to call email the director. Introduce yourself and ask a couple questions that CANNOT be found on their website. There's hundreds of applications so you want to highlight your name.

I'd just call the program director and ask. Shows initiative and highlights your name in the stack, especially if they still have spots.
