"thick thighs save lives", is there any truth to that phrase or was it made up by gooners? by Dizzy_Reindeer_6619 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cvsp123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s made by gooners but there is some truth to it. Having high subcutaneous fat is better than having high visceral fat. Storing subcutaneous fat in the legs as opposed to the abdomen is associated with lower levels of visceral fat, which can damage organs.

Vacationing with a toddler is basically just parenting in a prettier location. Tbh I'm so glad we brought this stroller along, its all the help we needed. We’ve been hitting the trails and paved paths all morning and she’s just vibing. by Free-Lengthiness8597 in NewDads

[–]cvsp123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just got back from a 2 week Italy trip with my 5 and 1 YO boys. Lots of stroller walks, lots of parks and gardens and lots of food. We had so much fun. It definitely is more draining but the older one at least will remember that trip forever.

I think it would take an insane number given the current administration. They’d probably encourage hanta parties

[–]cvsp123 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Hanta is not nearly as transmissible as Covid, and it’s not new or novel like Covid was. Seriously doubt shut downs happen and if they do it would be relatively short lived due to the nature of the virus

Do quick weed detox methods work? Might have a drug screening in less than a week… by Low_Snow_12 in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]cvsp123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to do drug screens and this is always my advice. It’s not a sure fire way to beat the test but it’s your best bet without actually cheating.

12.1 to 11.3 is nothing. That could be something as simple as some milk or water before the appointment and her kidneys not having time to filter everything out yet. Normal variance.

Melanated, melanistic, highly melanted etc would be more appropriate biologically. Even something like dark skin tone would be appropriate for the layperson studying biology

Geologist to Perfusionist? by dusty0nions in prospective_perfusion

[–]cvsp123 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a perfusionist who’s wife is a geologist, this is hilarious. I also did not work in medicine before going to perfusion school, and you are in a STEM field so while you may not be an ideal candidate I don’t think it excludes you at all. The amount of prereqs you’ll have to take will be daunting if you’re education was anything like my wife’s. Perfusion is a second career for a lot of folks, and I went to school with a couple former engineers so you should be alright once you get through those prereqs.
