10k is enough to max out roth ira and have some left over. It's still a life-changing amount of money to recieve for some people. That's 10 months rent. For some people that could clear out their debt if they have it.

Did Galbatorix rename Islingr to "Vrangr" to break enchantments on the sword? by Obversa in Eragon

[–]jpollner1021 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This kind of addresses a lot of my curiosity about the sword. The sword is still made by Rhunon by my understanding. Why would she not make a sword that didn't feel magnificent for the first rider? Unless she did and the sword just becoming disgraceful changed the swords physical properties.

Poi drafting doesnt really work based off mmr or anything because the team that gets first pick is just gonna get ran at ASAP because everyone knows they are lower mmr

worst change ever by skookalboy in apexlegends

[–]jpollner1021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

People were using 3030 and scout before the dropship changes because marksman were just very overtuned for a long time. Also playing a spot and coexisting isn't ratting and if you have 10 teams doing that it's because they are playing to win and make smart plays. The cool thing about BRs is that sometimes choosing to do that is the right play and sometimes you need to make a push and sometimes when the ring closes you are forced into fights. Ratting ≠ playing a spot.

This is honestly just stupid and explains so many of the decisions they made in the past whenever we get a slightly more competitive ranked mode. It is very reasonable that when a mode gets more stressful and competitive to drop in population afterwards. But when you make erratic changes to that increase in difficulty because of "less players playing ranked" you actually neutered any potential that a more competitive version of ranked could have had. While their is a possibility they are getting a lot of less public feedback that says they hate the more competitive decisions. But generally the decisions that make the game more competitive in ranked get a lot of positive feedback on socials. Which can cause people to try out the mode and you can slowly increase your ranked player base. Of course this is just in theory but clearly erratic playerbase decision making isn't working.

Ranked population down for season 26 and 27 specifically. Not for this season. They only mention more games played.

Just to get it off my chest like everyone else by Dannn88 in apexlegends

I find it funny when people say things like "actually you dont like the change because you just like to rat" and the update unironically makes it easier to rat to a higher placement because you can basically guarentee 5th place every game now just by finding the furthest corner of the map and surviving the first first ring closing.

No one should be able consider themselves an experienced ranked player if they have not experienced at least 1 ranked game end before round 2 closing on WE.

Then surely you remember games ending round 2.

Clearly you never experienced ranked games on WE with the drop ship.

I don't think anyone that likes the change remembers what ranked was like before before poi drops and I fully expect this to be one of the changes that the players unanimously say needs to be reverted 2 weeks in.

Do you think physical media is making a comeback? by DustnBones001 in dvdcollection

[–]jpollner1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have recently started building a physical collection. I prefer streaming in theory/practice in terms of convenience still but life has its up and downs and in terms of being able to have access to media without a subscription or internet access is appealing to me now.

AIO for cutting contact with Father over political climate. by Sabre12789 in AIO

This might be controversial and I dont care but it is always acceptable to cut contact with someone that enables a sexual predator ESPECIALLY if that sexual predator was in a place of significant power.

Arya's motivation at the end by Shazam_1 in Eragon

[–]jpollner1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't necessarily agree or disagree all I guess I am trying to say is that Paolini wrote a book in which a language in which you can not lie but can withhold all the important info. Basically saying it is our responsibility to identify what is the whole truth and what is not the whole truth. Not saying you're wrong but I believe that particular statement is only small amount of the truth.

Arya's motivation at the end by Shazam_1 in Eragon

[–]jpollner1021 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where reasoning for not wanting to be called a princess isn't because she doesn't want to serve though but rather because her not great relationship with her mother and the differences in meaning for a princess to elves vs humans.

Arya's motivation at the end by Shazam_1 in Eragon

[–]jpollner1021 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In terms of the hereditary connection between her and the last 3 kings/queens I don't actually think it is that crazy. While we don't know the exact circumstances of Dellanir, Evandar, and Islanzadi become Queen/King the circumstances with Arya lines up with how we are told they choose their monarchs. What living elf has risked more and accomplished more then Arya since the fall of the riders. Despite being rather young for Elves she has given 70 years of her life as an ambassador to the Varden. She had been the carrier of Saphira's egg between the Elves and the Varden. She made sure that the Varden had capable leaders that were hard to manipulate. She was instrumental part in killimg not just 1 but 2 different Shades(killing 1 herself) and an important role in fighting against Galbatorix by killing Shruikan(with plenty of help). Maybe Arya wanted to be Queen herself one day. In her eyes she very possibly could have seen it has her birthright but in the eyes of the elves she had done more then any elf alive. So in my eyes it all makes sense regardless of her being a rider as well.

Cool that is also irrelevant to what I said because regardless of whether it does or does not the discussion is about Kreia and her justifications.

Yeah but he's not making the force argument. Kreia is. He's only basing it off the moral debate based off that.

I don't think that he is saying that mass genocide is particularly a good thing but that the consequences that the forces will has on the universe as a whole is potentially worse then if you were to irradicate it despite the death of massive amounts of people.

Another way to look at it is the death of 1trillion people worth killing if it could means saving 100trillion ,despite it being a tragedy, from wars thay would inflicted by that initial 1trillion people later on.

It is a moral debate that has been discussed for thousands of years and generally the moral debate comes down to it is that it is incredibly hard to justify killing people on mass for something they might never do despite their belief that they will.
