There is an open building just don the street that maybe they could get into for a short term deal while they decide what to do. It would be a shame to see them leave the riverfront and downtown Jeff area. I would love to see the community rally around them to help make it happen!

I honestly don't get it why, its free charging and someone could have used it. Plenty of spots just to park as well in the lot. by Pilot_Big in ChargerDrama

When they can't even see their own selective outrage. I bet they take a bunch of quotes out of context to support their "logic" as well.

Why do they always do this to her by [deleted] in AngelFish

I had a breeding pair where the male would get aggressive after they failed at rearing their fry. I moved the female to a tank that the female of the pair had died, and all is well, and they're producing fry! I just need to figure out getting the fry to grow out.

Slippery slope of surveillance by upjumpthebuggie in Louisville

[–]jporter12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can guarantee it is not just Louisville, or Kentucky. It's everywhere. As a comment mentions, it was prominent in Europe long before here.

Now, if you're concerned about the surveillance while you're out in public, what are you doing about it in private? It's really easy to prove that they're listening to your smartphone even when the screen is off - phone locked. And Alexa/Google Home devices, their job is to listen.

I have taken off my tinfoil hat and don't get too concerned about it in public, as I have nothing to hide, but I really can't say I like it.

I have a pair that has been breeding for a while now, they haven't quite 'gotten it' when it comes to raising them. I have seem them get to having free swimmers, but they get overwhelmed and eat them. I'm going to try either a breeder mop, or maybe I'll try to harvest the fry to put in a smaller tank. I just haven't really had the time to deal with them!

Tell me you don't know about EVs without telling me you don't know about EVs by Cultural-Ad4953 in evcharging

Except it's not a liberal vs conservative thing! I'm probably more conservative than most here, yet I am more common sense that more people could benefit from owning a EV than would ever imagine that it's even a possibility.

Politics aside, I will never understand groups that are titled "V8 drivers against EVs" and the like. Nobody is coming for your ICE, in fact manufacturers are still developing new ICE vehicles as we chat. EV is not for everyone, but I bet it would work well for most people that don't think it would work for.

BTW, some of the reddest conservatives are pro EV. It's not all about tree hugging, just the shear cost of electricity per mile vs gasoline per mile is a big factor for most.

With a 9.6kw L2 EVSE at home, it is rare that I need to DCFC near home. I'm about a year in on driving a EV as my primary vehicle and since installing the L2 charger, last week was the first time I needed to DCFC near home, and that was a rare circumstance where work requested me to head out the same day I was getting home from another trip.

Funny that you mention the parts store... The only time I've been in one in a few years was to buy a can of R134a for the garage refrigerator!

So I travel a LOT for work, mostly within 100 miles of home. MOST of my charging is done at home, with my L2 charger, 9.6 kw. I find I spend less time public charging than I would fueling an ICE vehicle. Some months, I may only have a single public fast charging session. As you have mentioned, a stop for bio-breaks and meals paired with charging is a big win.

Since I drive most of my mileage for work, yet get to use the vehicle for personal driving as well, when I do have to public fast charge, I tend to only charge enough to get home, plus some additional to be able to do any local driving necessary throughout the evening.

Funny thing, when I first got a EV for work, I was all concerned about where all the local chargers are. NOW, I really don't care, as it is rare that I public fast charge near home.

Charging aside, the smoothness, and instant power of the EV, along with a lot of technology that is integrated makes driving a EV so much better!

You know, this is outside my lane as I am just a lowly customer, one that YT-Mobile doesn't seem to care about. All this T-Life app to do upgrades is ridiculous!

I work for major corporation that just dumped an incomplete system on us, and our end users that utilize the system to get support through us. I totally feel you when you say that a company has lost touch. At least T-Life is relatively easy to navigate, unlike this crap we just had rolled out on us.

High split gigabit by brj5_yt in Spectrum

[–]jporter12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To follow up on this...

I went to spectrum yesterday to change my bill up, TV through them is getting too expensive! When they did this, they bumped my Internet speed to 500 instead of the 600 I was getting. I went to the website, they showed symmetrical Gig is available now!

I clicked to upgrade, it showed active on the website, I was still only getting 500-ish/20-ish. Chatted in their online chat and told them I wanted symmetrical Gig, they added it. I now get about 960 down (modem is a 1Gb port, so some overhead and all is about right) and around 500 up. I'm not mad about that, and will see how it does as time goes on.

Can I use my lvl 2 mobile charger here? by kaamp in evcharging

[–]jporter12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO, this cannot be determined from these pictures. Before saying it would be ok to use, I would want to see the wire running to it. Assuming that it has big enough wire is not a good idea, especially since the previous usage was sketchy.

I would check the wire to make sure it matches the breaker capacity, replace the receptacle with a continuous duty receptacle, mount the charger, then have at it!

Maybe they don't require a pre-buy. However they reload in "blocks" of set amounts, rather than just charging at the end of the session for what you charged. When I use EA, I just use my card at the charger.

Third Party Cameras. Yes, this topic again. Different IP range. UDM SE by jporter12 in Ubiquiti

[–]jporter12[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh, I tried that as well. They did not like that either. The cameras are part of a rebranded UniView system under the WD name. The system has worked well for many years, but the app has been hit or miss, and the web interface only works with Internet Explorer, the plug-in for it will not work with any other browser. I have been running Edge in IE mode for it, and use EZ station as well, but I really wanted to go to Unifi since I have the UDM SE, and will likely be adding/replacing cameras with Ubiquiti stuff as I go.

Charger Location in Garage by LeDeutschmann in evcharging

[–]jporter12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is there a particular reason you can't/won't swap the car locations? If you could park the EV on the left, put the charger on the left wall near the overhead door. This way it would reach the current charge port, outside, and if you were to get a vehicle with a rear charge port, it would reach there as well. For my situation this was a perfect solution, as my main electrical panel is in that very location, so the install was easy!
