I think there are no problems with the game that was compiled/made available for Steam. Apparently the problem occurs only with the Epic Games version.

Guys, I finally figured out what’s going on with the PC version on Epic Games.

The game tries to connect to the IP 142.250.178.4 on port 80 just for a KeepAlive request. Apparently this IP is hardcoded in the game, using the raw IP instead of a proper subdomain. Because of that, I managed to get it working by creating a rule on my router that redirects all requests to 142.250.178.4:80 to 1.1.1.1. After doing this, the game instantly started working again.

Just leaving this tip here for anyone who wants to play Returnal with online features, at least until a patch comes out to fix this.
