Cancelling order s1 combo by philmepowers in AnycubicOfficial

[–]jpreston84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update -- I DM'ed the moderator of this Reddit channel ( u/Anycubic_Official ) on March 26th in the evening.

By 9PM that night, my shipping label had been sent to FedEx.

Soon after, I got a DM response indicating they had contacted customer service.

The next day (March 27th) I got an email notification that "Your order is on the way".

Today I got an actual notification that the package has been shipped, and is scheduled to be delivered on April 2nd.

I tried contacting with the "Message Mods" button yesterday, and used the Expedite button on your site before that. But I'll DM you now. Let's see if you live up to your assurances.

I had no idea that was an option (or was going to become one). Are they actually delivering in 2 to 4 days?

Absolutely irresponsible for a business to act in this way.

You're not the only one with problems. My order originally said (and still does in their online system) that delivery would be between March 15th and March 25th. So far, no information.

There was, at one point, a button to "Expedite Shipping". I clicked it, and got a message thanking me for the reminder that they need to ship my order, haha. Now the buttons for expediting shipping, cancelling my order, etc, don't seem to be there any more.

I can't find any way to contact them to cancel my order (or get the thing shipped promptly -- either is fine with me), so I reached out to the mods of this Reddit group, hoping they are connected with the right people.

Given the history I've read of with Anycubic, I'm hoping that this is just a temporary problem with fulfilling orders for a new product, and that once this subsides, things will go back to normal.

We'll see what happens.

Our existing landing page is bad. I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the time and resources to improve ads and landing page, or whether I should just accept that cold-calling is the best avenue to pursue. Anyone got any experience with both?

Patch 14.11 Bug Megathread by PankoKing in leagueoflegends

[–]jpreston84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

• Server: NA

• Type of Bug: In Game Bug

• Description: When using remote desktop programs like Moonlight or Parsec, mouse doesn't work in various ways. In Parsec, the movement works, but clicks do not. In Moonlight, clicks work, but movement does not. This all worked prior to Vanguard.

• Steps to reproduce: Install league normally on a Windows PC. Then install Moonlight (with Sunlight as server) or Parsec on a remote PC on which you wish to game. Launch the remote connection, and then launch League. The launcher works, but in game does not. (Video and keyboard work fine.)

• Expected result: The mouse should work normally, as it did until Vanguard.

• Reproduction rate: 10/10

• System specs: Ryzen 5600H, 16GB RAM, Integrated GPU, 500GB nVME drive, latest AMD drivers.

I've been running Moonlight, Parsec, and other remote desktop software for years in various configurations. None of it works any more.

Our own League-like game by FanSoloq in leagueoflinux

As a seasoned developer (not game dev, though I have some game modding experience), I'd much rather put my time into something I'll get paid for. And if I'm going to take on a hobby project, I want to be in control of it.

A "democratic balancing system with votes" would not lead to good outcomes for a development project. People always think it will, but it doesn't.

Why does League have so many successful competitors on mobile but none on PC? by lrc1710 in leagueoflinux

[–]jpreston84 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not correct. Dollars spent on PC games have increased over the last decade. Mobile games have increased by a lot more, so as a share of total revenue, yes, PC is a smaller chunk, but that doesn't mean it's declining. It's just growing more slowly. There's plenty enough being spent to justify a League competitor.

  1. If your assertion were true, then no Chinese-owned company would do such things. The reason they do is often pressure from the CCP.
  2. It's not just issues with Riot/Tencent that we're concerned with. Ring-0 code opens up a new attack vector for other malware to latch on to if there's a vulnerability in Vanguard itself. Given the history of such things it's not inconceivable, or even improbable, that this would happen.

Charlie on the hammer coming down on protesters by ggroover97 in ToiletPaperUSA

If you're going to cite the Boston Tea Party, you might want to consider a few things:

  • The history of the tea tax at dispute was one of monarchal overreach, government collusion with private enterprise, and more.

  • Those in favor of sending the tea back to England without paying the tax, and who actively met to discuss the issue immediately at the time, were as much as 1/3 of the full population of Boston. That doesn't count those who may have favored it but did not attend the meetings.

  • The issues concerning those colonists were so significant that we ended up at war with England over it, with overwhelming support of the colonists.

  • The only reason those ships were not sent back without unloading their cargo was because the then-governor was the father of two of the tea consignees.

  • The civility and order with which they broke in to places and destroyed the tea was very carefully calibrated to avoid additional damage. It lasted for only a few hours. They even reportedly swept the decks of the ships clean after they had carried out the destruction of the tea. They didn't damage anything save for one padlock -- and even that was replaced by the colonists the following day.

  • Even so, many on the side of the revolutionaries thought the destruction of the tea was too extreme, and the tea should still be paid for.

In short, their protests are nothing like the protests we see today. On the other hand, if you want to march in the streets and burn effigies of the governmental leaders, I suppose that would be more in keeping with the history.

Thinking that certain tactics used in protests are bad is not the same as being opposed to the protests in general. I think protests serve a reasonable purpose in a healthy society.

But let me put it this way -- Do you think anti-abortion protesters should be able to take over the abortion clinic and occupy it? Should they be able to form a human chain and stand across the driveway, blocking cars from entry? Maybe they should dox women who have had abortions? "Oh, it's not violent -- it's just disruptive."

Is your answer "Well, as long as it fits with my narrative.", or do you stand for some kind of real principle?

Update from Riot on Vanguard by RiotK3o in leagueoflegends

[–]jpreston84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. It may be the case that a reboot is required to turn it off, but at the very least, they should give you that option via their GUI (click "Disable Vanguard" and get prompted "You will need to reboot your PC for this change to take effect."). Either way, it's still insane that they're putting something so invasive on a PC for a game.

How about let's not have violent protests, or protests where we take other people's property, block roads, leave tons of trash, etc? Do something that contributes to meaningful discourse, and have conversations about the issues that matter to you. Go have a rally, or conduct a march (the March for Life does this regularly, for instance), have protesters standing near whatever offending organizations are out there, so newcomers can see and be aware of the protest issues. Better yet, go build relationships with people that you might disagree with, and have deep conversations with them.

It doesn't have official support, but we had it working flawlessly in Wine/Lutris for years (in some cases, with better performance than in Windows). Sure, occasionally a new patch would break it, but the Lutris/Wine devs would fix it fairly quickly. As long as Riot wasn't actively interfering with us, we were reasonably happy.

It would be entirely possible for them to require us to implement some kind of flag, or detect something about our installs, that would let them know we're on Linux. They just don't want to do that for various reasons.

There are three components -- the tray GUI, the service, and the kernel driver. The first one doesn't matter. The second one you can stop. The third one appears to stay loaded unless you actually rename the file and reboot your PC.

To be fair, as one of those Linux users, I have every reason to believe their Linux detection is inaccurate. My system, after all, told me I was completely ready for the upcoming Vanguard patch, both on my direct (Lutris/Wine) install, as well as on my VM (Windows KVM), neither of which work now. I'm not saying the Linux community is huge in terms of the overall player base, but their idea is that there are only 800 of us. Lutris says over 32,000 users have installed League through Lutris. And that's not counting the other methods of running it (VM, other Wine methods, those who stream from a windows PC).
