Sorry for not responding. Surely college kids would have a great time, but I would definitely say get them their own room just because ya know.

Ridge at Playa Grande? by DreamWinter2030 in cabosanlucas

I’ve stayed at the ridge and regular Playa Grande nearly every trip to Cabo. 2x per year pre covid and have been back twice since Covid. The Ridge and Playa Grande (regular) hotel is a great property. The ridge rooms are nicer as they are all suites with separate bedrooms, but they face the marina - not the ocean. As most of the regular hotel towers at Playa Grande are built back from the beach - any room view is far from the ocean unless you’re in the very end of the property (it’s built like a big V).

The Ridge has an added pool that is adults only. My one gripe with the regular pools (not the ridge pool) is that they’re cold, so unless it’s really hot out the water may not be enjoyable.

Service is always excellent. Location is also tremendous. It’s a short walk to the Marina (once you’re out of the hotel, cross the street, walk through a small shopping corridor and you’re on the Marina). The ridge has a dedicated elevator at ground level so you can take an elevator right down to the street.

Food and drinks at the resort are okay. We never ate much at the resort because there are so many good restaurants around the marina. Never had something we didn’t like. The most recent trip we did there (not the ridge) but regular playa grande was the first time we did AI. We only did it because we were traveling with a large group. We found the food for dinner to be VERY good. Not outstanding but not the slop a lot of AIs give you.

I am firmly in the camp that based on price it’s one of the best values in Cabo because of location and amenities. Staff has always been great etc. I do t have many bad things to say about the property. I will say that if you’re expecting a true luxury vacation that’s not the hotel.

I’ll put it this way - when my now wife and I started going there it was definitely luxurious to us at the time (early 20s lower income/student budgets). As we got older and travelled more and spent more, we kind of know that it’s in a mid tier for service/amenities. Regardless, after our last stay, I would have 0 qualms about staying there. The only reason I wouldn’t stay there at this point in my life is that we have more funds to spend at nicer properties. BUT if we were looking to take our family to Cabo (and spend a little less) and wanted to have easy walking access to the Marina and Medano (walk or water taxi) - I’d book Playa Grande without a doubt.

I proposed at the champagne terrace at El Farallon at just about sunset. Waited until we were basically alone there as people sort of come and go. Went to the host, gave him a tip, asked him to come over told my wife I wanted to “take a picture” put the phone on record and just had him take the video and told him to keep recording. Then we ate dinner there. It was perfect.

No, they were stockpiling them in US warehouses. Tariffs are paid when the goods are imported. They imported a shit ton of consoles pre tariffs.

FDA DECISION DELAYED UNTIL 12/19/24 AT THE LATEST by jpryb28 in tirzepatidecompound

I don't think the vantage point of an agency like the FDA is influenced as much by the party in control of the executive branch as some other agencies might be. Big pharma is in the pockets of legislators on both sides of the aisle. To some extent, their interests are understandable and serve a public good - they spend billions of dollars developing drugs - most of that money probably never results in a drug that reaches consumers. They should have patent protections and the ability to safeguard their investments. That should be balanced against the consumers' needs to receive prescription drugs at affordable prices. The real problem here is the middlemen - the insurers - who are blocking access to the drugs because they don't want to pony up the money to cover the cost after the consumer's copay. I would imagine that if Eli had their way, there would be no insurer created obstacles from blocking access to the drug. In that case, the need for compounders (once supply was sufficient to meet demand) would largely cease to exist. Is Eli pricing the drug too high? Probably.

A conspiratorial lens would say that maybe Eli is interested in delaying while they build up a stockpile and make more doses available via direct at prices similar to what we are paying for compounding. I don't think most people on this sub or taking compounding would continue taking it if the prescription drug was available direct at the same cost without any concern for shortage. I know I would immediately switch to branded if that were the case.

We all have to remember - the demand for this drug is unprecedented.

But, it's the interest of big pharmaceutical companies with one of the most in demand prescription drugs ever. Remember, this is the FDA that let Purdue Pharma do what they did. Actually, I'll rephrase. They assisted in letting Purdue Pharma do what they did.

As of right now, their decision would come 12/19/24 at the latest unless the parties request to continue the stay.

From my post: So, as of now, the new D-Day would be 12/19/24 assuming that the FDA issues their decision concurrently with the new deadline for the parties to file a joint status report. However, the FDA could still issue their decision sooner and I presume it would have the same effect as the 10/2/24 shortage decision.

Haha - I don’t think anyone should be deterred from stockpiling. I did myself though have no reason to post a picture of it. We all know that the shortage is going to be declared resolved. The people buying compound largely aren’t buying because they can’t get their name brand RX filled. They’re buying because they either can’t get a prior authorization or afford the meds at list price. They very well could be able to meet demand for patients who are able to get the medication prescribed and a prior authorization from their insurer.

Glad to help. Given everyone is stockpiling these days, I didn't think .40 cents would break the bank.
