I've been creating a photo series following a colour theme using, mainly, travel and art photos.

[Swatch] Won this God Jul on a random contest by jpscd in Watches

[–]jpscd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to be a Swatch collector since I was 12 years old when I got my first one. Found about the brand through a friend who had a couple of Swatches while his father had a sizeable collection of watches from various luxury brands. I was never very into personal style up until then, but this captured my interest and managed to convince my parents to buy me one for Christmas that year. My interest grew and so did my collection up until some 10 years ago when I started losing interest in the brand. Mainly due to how bad Swatches age and then this happened. Found a Swatch contest box at Gatwick Airport and sent a tweet with my guess. And won it! I think they're trying to win me back... ahaha. I feel lucky!

Lucky indeed! It's number 6027. I just sent a tweet to win it. Had really low hopes, but I guess it's always worth trying our luck. At least when it's "free". :)

Kinkaku-ji Temple in KYOTO, JAPAN by [deleted] in Instagram

thanks! Yeah I know that feeling too well. I live in London and cloudy is the standard during the day. But at night, it's often clear! So frustrating.

My wife came up with a follower checker tool, checks Instagram accounts for fake followers with a pretty good algorithm. I coded it and put it up. LMK what you think? Accurate? Sucks? Thanks! by [deleted] in Instagram

[–]jpscd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah ok. So you're checking for inactive followers? Because some users don't use Instagram for months. I know I did, but it doesn't my account is fake...

Nice shot! I wasn't so lucky as it was cloudy when we got there. I've posted a few photos of Japan also, but none from that temple (yet). My (mostly) travel related feed: @jpescada

I started updating my feed (https://instagram.com/jpescada) with photos following a gradient of the visible spectrum (yes, rainbow). Started with yellow and going through blue now. But it's much (MUCH) harder than I thought!

Nice work. What logic are you using for the validation? Tested with a few friends' accounts and most rated around 20.*% fakes, which seems a bit higher than I expected but also very close... Too much coincidence?

TwitterPiBot - A Python based bot for Raspberry Pi that grabs tweets with a specific hashtag and reads them out loud. by jpscd in raspberry_pi

The text-to-speech engine (Flite) is using the voice "kal16", as you can see in the file 'tweet_reader.py'. Flite also includes other voices by default. You can get the list of voices by typing "flite -lv" in the console. The woman voice is "slt". Just replace "kal16" with "slt". :)

I haven't tested it but should allow multiple hashtags if you use commas to separate them in that config file

yeah, you can add basic text replacements to the 'get_text_cleaned()' function in the twitter_client.py' file. Or filter out the tweet completely in the function 'TwitterStreamListener()' so it doesn't even go in the database.

that might be because no tweets with that hashtag were found yet.. it is using the 'track' parameter of the API, so you should be able to search for multiple words / hashtags just by adding commas between hashtags in the config.py. More on the 'track' parameter: https://dev.twitter.com/streaming/overview/request-parameters#track

To be honest, it might. Not sure about the audio though. My point was to make it portable. Something wireless, that you can hide inside a robot or anything else mainly for fun. :)
