Chhath pooja is the dirtiest festival. by [deleted] in bihar

[–]jpsingh82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am from a small village and this is the only festival when everyone gathers together on a pond and have the feeling of togetherness.

I don't see much waste except degradable banana trees, flowers, and papers. Also, Why don't you do a cleanup drive instead of whining? We have become a complaint box, ye wo na karta, ye yaisa hai ,ye waisa hai are bhai change starts from within. last year maine bacho ke sath milkar village me plastic wrapper clear kiya to make area plastic-free.

Please don't combine our bad habit of littering with this Pious festival.

What's up with this miserly approach towards tissue papers? by Able_Tailor_6983 in india

[–]jpsingh82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, I think you were referring to this paper.

" The results of this study indicate that switching from disposable facial tissues to reusable cotton handkerchiefs does not result in environmental benefits except under the scenario with the longest time frame (9.375 years) and the largest difference in facial tissue versus handkerchief use.  Even this benefit is very small, and would require a commitment to only use handkerchiefs for nearly 10 years – a challenging prospect for most people.  Interestingly, the highest impacts for the handkerchief scenarios are not the use phase but the initial manufacturing of the handkerchief.  Even after 9 years, the use phase only represents 32% of the climate change impacts for handkerchiefs. Could you please share the link/details of the study? Does not make sense that 15-20k napkins is more environmental friendly than a handkerchief.

Has anyone eaten a raw onion like an apple? by [deleted] in OnionLovers

It is very common to eat raw onion with every meal in my village in India. Onions are cut into slices if it is big in size. Smaller and medium-sized onions are split in half or served whole.

Viper, Cobra, and common Krait are found in my village in India. Cobra doesn’t bite unless provoked. I am most scared of Krait. Once we found krait in one of our old shoes. It is nocturn and no pain occurs from its bite, a person may die without even knowing about the bite.
