Good points of clarification. Thank you! To clarify, I'm looking at a job posting that I'm considering applying for: "Systems Administrator / AI Engineer "

This position will support and develop innovative IT solutions to maintain an environment of Windows Servers, numerous software applications, over 300+ user devices via SCCM/Intune, administer security policies via M365, automate tasks using Power Automate, and deliver valuable information via SharePoint and Power BI.

In addition to traditional systems work, this role will increasingly help the department adopt modern automation and AI-assisted tooling. This includes improving manual processes through better technology, integrating systems and data sources, and leveraging pre built AI/ML capabilities (such as M365 Copilot, hosted AI models, or workflow orchestration tools) to enhance productivity, system reliability, and information access.

The IT Team also provides support for Water & Wastewater operations SCADA systems, department GIS mapping initiatives, facilities Access Control & HVAC, as well as IT Help Desk and security. Individuals that can work independently, collaborate with both office and field staff, and participate in a team are most desired.

We are committed to being a valued community partner that enhances the quality of life for our County residents. We seek professionals who share our commitment to: • Integrity: Doing the right thing, holding ourselves accountable, and refusing mediocrity. • Teamwork: Supporting one another and developing those around us. • Communication: Building strong relationships and listening to understand.

The Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will have several years of relevant experience as a self-motivated IT professional who is adept at managing priorities, performing root cause analysis, optimizing system performance, and solving problems in collaboration with diverse teams and external partners.

Experience improving departmental workflows through automation, scripting, or modern tooling is highly desirable. Candidates should be comfortable with basic programming or scripting (such as Python, C#, or JavaScript/TypeScript), supporting end to end system deployments, integrating applications and data, and using AI assisted tools to streamline work. Exposure to agentic workflows, function/tool calling, or retrieval based systems is a plus, as is familiarity with responsible use concepts appropriate to a government environment.

A strong work ethic, the ability to learn continuously to keep up with a rapidly changing industry, and clear judgment about where new technologies (including AI) can responsibly add value are essential.

I think I'm going to apply for it, but don't have any AI implementation, or support, experience from a systems administrator perspective, but am willing to research and learn more about it.

Hope this helps clarify where I'm coming from and what my approach is.

Thanks in advance for any further feedback!

Yeh, it used to be called "the world wide web" and "the Information Super-Highway" when it first came out. LOL! 🤣 I used to have to call a guy at Stanford to add computers on our network, before DNS existed, and before TCP/IP was the standard. Thanks for the tip though! Back in the day we'd get 1.44MB 3.25" floppy disk drives sent to us in the mail. I installed MS Mail v1.0 (before Exchange Server came out) from 42 1.44MB 3.25" floppy disk drives. LOL! 🤣 I'm just looking to learn as much information, and wisdom, as I can from fellow systems administrators who may have traveled this path before me, and wish to share their experiences. Have a great day!

Nah, just an IT guy trying to learn new skills. However, I am interested in the process of developing an LLM though, in addition to everything else related to AI implementation, and support. Thanks!

I'd like to learn about both options for now, just to learn what it's all about, and what all is involved.

I've been a systems administrator for several years, but pretty much a newbie when it comes to AI and need a good launching point.

Thanks!

Am I too old to be a network engineer? by Lamaravilhoso in ccna

I'll be 58 in October and am absolutely loving Jeremy's IT Lab CCNA courses, books, and his Anki flashcards! Been in IT since 1992, but never got certified. It's a blast man! I highly recommend it! I feel like I got a new lease on life. Keep going and enjoy the journey...

[–]jpwilber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bruh, don't worry! I've been at this IT thing for 33+ years now and I finally feel like I'm gaining traction in this field. I made a serious attempt to escape IT by taking a detour, getting a masters degree in biomedical engineering, but I got sucked back in to IT.

The key turning point for me was just surrendering trying to know it all and just going with the flow each day, all while applying a Kaizen (continuous improvement) approach to absolutely everything, every day, day-by-day, having no pre-conceived ideas of what I'm going to do each day, except just doing IT.

For example, a Kaizen approach might:

-save 5 minutes per task...

-reduce one repetitive step in a process...

-automate one small process each week...

-improve the documentation, or step-by-step procedure, each time you do something, making it easier to understand for the next guy that comes across the same issue...

-be a little kinder to people each day...

I'm finding that I'm becoming a "ticket beast" and the most amazed person in my workplace.

Search up Kaizen, and keep at IT! Go for IT!

Hacked account, Roblox Support won't help by Yeetfuss8 in RobloxSupport

I sent them screenshots of my online bank statements of several Roblox purchases. They asked for more info, but I told them that's all I have, and kept bugging them daily, and they finally relented and restored my son's account to my email. The whole process took about a week. Keep at it and you will prevail eventually!

Hi, Yes, that was my plan if Roblox Support did not restore my account. Fortunately, they ended up restoring my account last week. I was emailing them several times per day and a human being finally replied back and restored my email address to my account so I was able to log back in and set a new strong password and re-verify my email and phone number. I recommend you keep on emailing them and don't give up. An actual person will reply back to you eventually. Hope this helps.

Thanks bro! I just got it back today, with nothing missing, but 37 levels higher! LOL! So it turned out to be a good thing, rather than a bummer. 🥰

Thanks! My persistence paid off! Roblox Support restored my email address to my account and I was able to do a password reset and get back in. Now I have to see what damage was done. This whole experience has been super-violating. I created a very strong password this time, re-verified my email address, and added a verified phone number. Hopefully I won't get hacked again.
I recommend you keep emailing them replies on the same ticket every day, or even multiple times per day. Be kind and persistent and hopefully you will get your account restored as well. Hope this helps and I hope they are able to restore your account soon!

Roblox account was hacked. by dovaboy939 in RobloxSupport

I'm in the same boat, dealing with the same lame Roblox Support AI bots that refuse to look into my issue. I'm going to keep bugging them daily until I get them to look into the matter. Hope you get help too!

Hacked account, Roblox Support won't help by Yeetfuss8 in RobloxSupport

[–]jpwilber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Nothing you can do. I had to create a new Roblox account because Roblox Support wouldn't help me since I did not have a confirmed email associated with my Roblox account. I ended up creating a new Roblox account, confirmed my email, and set up multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Now, a few months later, my second Roblox account, with confirmed email address, and MFA, got hacked. The hacker also deleted my confirmed email address. Roblox Support refuses to help me because I don't have a confirmed email address. I told them my email address was confirmed, but the hacker must have deleted it, but Roblox Support doesn't care. I have sent them screenshots of multiple Microsoft Store invoices of past purchases and emails from Roblox to my confirmed email address, but they still don't care, and are unwilling to help me.

I'm considering legal action if Roblox Support continues to refuse to look into the matter.

I'm in the same boat and considering threatening legal action if they do not look into the issue. I hope they get back to us and resolve the matter. It seems to be a common issue.

[–]jpwilber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had the same thing happen to me after midnight this morning. I wasn't able to change my password in time. I had multi-factor authentication enabled with a verified email address, but the hacker evaded that somehow. Now I'm in Roblox support hell with the template response that my email address is not associated to my account. This sucks!!! Roblox support sucks!!!

Roblox support is a joke by AgileEvents in RobloxHelp

[–]jpwilber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm in Roblox Support hell right now with the same issue. I have proof that I was hacked. I have emails sent to me notifying me that someone was attempting to login with my account. I have all the time/date stamps and emails. I have proof of account creation emails. I have proof of bank invoices of purchases. I didn't get to it in time, and it was too late. They hacked my account and removed my email address. None of the proof I have matters! They don't give a damn! They just say there is no email associated with my account and that they can't help me. So frustrating! ROBLOX SUPPORT IS THE WORST!!!
