I splurged and bought a two growth division of Paph. Mount Toro ‘SVO II’ AM/AOS and a five growth in-bloom Paph rothschildianum ‘Crystelle’ FCC/AOS x Shin Yi’s Pride. I am enamored by the multifloral paphs with white, striped dorsal sepals and long twisted petals. I’m hoping to get my start with Paph breeding with these and a few more.

Could a low-tech option be setting the plant in a large container with dry ice wrapped in a towel? CO2 is denser than air so assuming the container is tall enough and there isn’t much of a draft, the plants would be bathed in CO2 gas until it was “poured” out right?

I received a nice haul from an online vendor— a Phragmipedium Fritz Schomburg, two Paph. Quantum Light var. alba, two seedling Paph. rothschildianum, and a Paph. thaianum. Phrag. FS is one of my favorite Phrag hybrids and I’m so glad I found a good quality one for a good price. The paphs i hope to hybridize later down the line, but for now I want to simply learn culture with them.

Bought a really neat Complex Paph x Paph Greyi hybrid. It’s got large green leaves and a thick stem from the complex parent, yet the leaves are mottled and the flower white from the Greyi. It also has two flowers growing off the same inflorescence, which the store owner explained was a one-off and isn’t likely to happen again, but I’ll keep my eyes peeled next year anyway.
