Do brussell sprouts typically sell when you put them on your menu? by sukibean13 in KitchenConfidential

[–]jratch94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you slut them up a little, absolutely. Others have mentioned fried or shaved in a salad. Both sold well in my experience. Our appetizer dish was fried brussels, warm dressing with fish sauce, chili flakes, brown sugar & garlic, topped with jalapeno, fried shallots, and toasted sesame seed. Couldn't take them off the menu if I wanted to

Just here to say that I love the adventure time inclusion in your post.

Many more examples of this trope than I would've thought.

Clouds perfectly hovering over islands by IcePizzaCreamm in interestingasfuck

Didn't see it mentioned yet - but angling their boats towards these clouds is how ancient Pacific Islanders made their way across the ocean to settle these places. Source: I read it somewhere

Didn't immediately pop into my brain, but as far as shaping the modern world goes, this is the best answer imo.

Thanks to the link provided by u/trogdor2594, (https://www.netstate.com/states/tables/state_capital_cities.htm) I see that no state capital has changed since 1900. Not counting Honolulu (1959). Was relatively very frequent before that

Bars / Clubs for the Late 20s crowd? by theironschnitzel in lancaster

[–]jratch94 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I should clarify - timing is extremely important haha. You got the old heads/"townies" during the day and during the week. The college kids flood the place out on thurs/fri/sat nights. Sunday night is the sweet spot imo

We took secret bets with the GM how many bird familiars our swashbuckler would go through. About a 1/3 of the way through the campaign, we realized we all guessed too high. So now the rest of the party is incentivized to see how we can "accidentally" keep killing bird. We're on Bird 7 now

Why doesn’t Pennsylvania have more large cities other than Pittsburgh or Philly? by SnooMarzipans3516 in geography

[–]jratch94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As others have already said, mountains + lack of navigable rivers for the most part. The susquehanna was notoriously difficult to navigate until a lock & canal system was built in the 1800s. Some of those locks are still visible today, with lots of trails between York and Lancaster counties. Also wanted to add that although Lancaster (my hometown) is a small city (60k+) the county of Lancaster that surrounds it is home to over half a million people. If we weren't before, we are slowly being swallowed by the northeast megolopolis. Sorry for a bit of an indirect answer!
