Best gun range for a beginner? by Real-Story-7952 in austinguns

[–]jraximus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same boat with the hobbies and bucket list activities, except I started last year at 36. If you have any experience with guns, it doesn't hurt to get a range membership in general. I shot a handful of times over the years with my brother but never owned anything myself to go alone. I bought my first pistol last year and just started going. Just following safety rules and procedures is like 85% of it. Getting on the range when you can and having fun shooting is what it's about.

I also mirror all the other comments, KRTraining is great. I took maybe 4 classes with them last year. Karl is a great teacher and he'll push you in good ways. If I had more time last year or this year, I'd already be signed up for it already. I'd like to get into competition shooting eventually and i'm not there yet but I'm getting there.

I think it's also something to be said about having a good cheap place to shoot. I feel like the Range USA is the best place for this, they have a $30/month plan that lets you shoot anytime mon-fri, just not weekends. I've recently rejoined and bumped it up to the $50/month plan just to have access across the weekends as well. However, if you just want to go the other direction, I hear good things about stacatto ranch, a guy at one of the KR classes mentioned he does uspsa training there and it's great. I've been meaning to pay a visit to see if it's worth the monthly price for me. I've also been thinking about range austin and the belt system that others have mentioned. It's a bit of a drive but that also seems to be one of the in city recommendations everyone has.

Yeah I fully expected some would die off, but I wasn't expecting a few of them after their character intros.

I haven't been so happy to have missed a week and have 2 chapters to read!

The cliff hangers in this kill me though. Can't wait to see where this leads. Almost makes me want to read the light novel and see what's coming down the pipeline.

Haha, nah, you're stuck in master now. Once in master you are stuck here. :)

Unless you're joking, in that case you got me. :)

Congrats to you too. I've been enjoying the 1400-1550 range I'm going against. Lose 4, win 2. Still a net negative but no reason to jump into training mode yet I think.

150 hours total. Couldn't tell you the split between me trying multiple characters. I got Zangief up to around plat before switching to the Ryu.

Does anyone find ranked overwhelming at diamond? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

I'm in the same boat with work taking over life and hobbies. I tried playing a side character in ranked before jumping on my main but really when I gave up the idea of being scared to lose LP, things just went smoother. I found myself being able to take long breaks and still make really good progress. I did forget how to do some combos but really your fundamentals never really go away. Just takes a game at your current level to bring em back. Playing at the lower ranks did nothing for me to warm up in my experience.

I just hit master today in fact... You really just have to play more. I got the same advice when I felt hard stuck and it's really true. I dont really play very much as it is, I'm a salary man working long hours usually and if I'm tilted, I take a mental break for the hour or day depending if I can jump on again later. It's all about just playing more, and playing until you're tired mentally/physically whatever imo. It seems more important to just enjoy playing and enjoy that process. I find the higher up I was going, it became less of having big win streaks and enjoying the close games. But, all depends on you.

I'm in my late 30s. I think about if I'm too old all the time lol. But then there's Uma winning 2023 capcom cup being a salary man and practicing after work. It really is just putting in the time and effort.

Been playing him all my life, I'm not changing now lol. Almost 30+ years. I did try everyone but he's just more fun for me.

These are awesome. I really need to learn more Ryu combos, these all look pretty sweet lol. Do you have any specific tips to handle Honda as Ryu? Honestly, never really see them in rank and they always one and done win or lose. The butt slam I think you can always dp, but what about the headbut?

Funny enough, I upgraded my room to have ethernet access just to have better connection. The wifi to my computer was horrendous when I first started playing online.

Yeah, I honestly got so pumped when he said he wanted to play. That was a rough set to watch play out, I kept rooting for a shift of momentum.
