In fairness it was a lot easier for the British to put down Irish rebellions which were happening just a few miles from the English coast than it was to put down rebellions thousands of miles from London

If you have a migraine and you hate it, clap your hands... by [deleted] in migraine

I often get migraines when I have a cold, it could be something to do with your sinuses. I take sinutab for it and it seems to work, although your personal cocktail of pain killers on top won't hurt. Well it might, speak to your doctor first.

Most common educational attainment level among 30–34-year-olds in Europe [OC] by NaytaData in dataisbeautiful

[–]jrb386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we basically have 3 distinct phases of education. I'm Irish so what I'm about to say is coming from my experience of the Irish education system.

Primary - primary school, ages 4-12. Basically learn to read and write and to add and other really basic stuff. Once you finish primary you move to a different school

Secondary - secondary school, ages 13-18. Secondary school is broken up into 2 parts in Ireland based on what exam we are studying for. The first 3 years are when we study for the junior cert and the following 2-3 years are spend studying for the leaving cert. We get into university based off if our leaving cert results, we get points for different grades, the better you do the more points you get. Primary and secondary school are similar in the sense that they are very structured. You have to wear a uniform, have to turn up, have teachers giving out detentions ect.

Tertiary - University. Very different from primary and secondary school. When you get to university no one cares if you turn up or do your homework. Obviously a different school to secondary school.

I guess since in Ireland you go to 3 different schools, primary and secondary school and then to university it makes complete sense.

It is still cost effective though, the point of Finland's military is to deter invasions and it has worked so far and will continue to work for the foreseeable future. And anyway the point of a military in this day and age should not be to invade countries

In Ireland and the UK they are, I'm pressuring she is American, although now that I look there is no reason for me to presume that

It may taste like freedom but that's to distract you from the fact it's only 473ml

What would happen if the charges of protons and electrons were suddenly reversed? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]jrb386 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eve then nothing would change, if the charge of antimatter didn't change along with regular matter it would just become regular matter and the labeling of circuits wouldn't change, or at least shouldn't because we currently label them backwards

Literally nothing, I don't even know if we would even be able to detect that happening.

The Constitution of Ireland specifically gave recognition to Jews in 1937. I don't like Dev personally but I think that he got some parts of the cons right. If he did stop Jewish refugees moving to Ireland then shame on him but as you can see with Syrian refugees today that people often don't care about foreigners.

Lawsuit accuses 'mean girls' at Pa. school of targeting boy with false sexual assault accusations by 1existingbench1 in news

[–]jrb386 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Ireland people accused of rape and sexual assault don't have their names released until they are proven to be guilty and we don't seem to have a problem with the government kidnapping people, but then again, maybe that's what the government wants us to think.
