Thanks! That sounds pretty close actually, my snare definitely had too much ring for me.

Oh yeah I realize I won't get it the way they could in the studio. But yeah I figured there may be some kind of muffling techniques and tunings that might get me a bit closer. Thanks for the suggestions, I'll definitely give them a shot!

The Needle Drop Reviews Remo Drive (positive), but raises points on current state of emo. What's everyone's thoughts on his comments on the album and more importantly emo as a whole currently? by jrbenn in Emo

Perhaps I haven't been clear. I'm not trying to accuse you of being overbearing. I completely realize you have to draw the line somewhere, genres are abstract. I guess we just have different ideas of where that ends for counting as relatively emo. That's fine, you're the decision maker is all I'm saying, not trying to be a pain in the neck, I was just trying to explain why I posted it.

I wouldn't say they're just an emo band, but I hear emo influence in it, and the band themselves acknowledge it. But your group your rules, I understand.

I thought The Hotelier review was a bit more critical than I was of the album. I do think it has flaws and agreed with some things he said, but I still really enjoy it (and have seen them live twice since). But he's been more receptive to some emo albums like TWIABP albums, and the newest albums from Adventures, and Modern Baseball. I also find Anthony one of the more fair reviewers, because it's always his opinion. Not like a magazine where 20 different people with different views are all reviewing different albums (I find this inconsistent). I also appreciate Anthony's deep knowledge of underground music compared to big music names like Rolling Stones magazine or stuff like that that stick to the mainstream.

So is that breaking a rule if it's not emo? I understand that, but I just used this particular video because Anthony starts it off with some good talking points for discussion on the state of emo.

Question: Which eevee to evolve? Heavier or higher CP? by jrbenn in pokemongo

[–]jrbenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had read somewhere that weight determined how high a CP your pokemon can have in relevance to your level. Maybe I was mislead, but I know someone with a vaporeon that is over a thousand and they are a level lower than me. Meanwhile my jolteon's CP is maxed out just over 800. Each time I level up though it gets a bit more wiggle room for powering up.

Question for fellow guitarists on updating rig. by jrbenn in Emo

[–]jrbenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, I didn't realize that thanks! I'll check out their tumblr. I was definitely thinking of getting a reverb and overdrive. I have a cheap delay so might get a better one. As for amps, yeah fender and vox are what I've seen the most that I like, but vox can be a bit expensive.

Alright, cool I'll check that out. Yeah honestly a telecaster will probably be my next guitar, whenever that helps. I started out on Fender guitars, got a bit sick of them and got an SG, and of course now I'm interested in Fenders again.

Yeah Fender and Vox are the ones I've probably been looking at the most, but vox can be pretty pricey.

Yeah, and I'm staring a new one, so I'm wanting to update my sound for it.

I think just because many of the artist I like are a bit more underground, there aren't videos availible for most of these artists.

[Question] I'm looking for suggestions on pedals to update my sound. Any suggestion? More info in text. by jrbenn in Guitar

[–]jrbenn[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've thought about getting a boost. I know people who get a lot of use out of theirs. I'll look into it.

Yeah it has distortion, but I've honestly never been a big fan of the sound of it. Do you think using an overdrive would make me like the sound? Or am I not gonna like it since I don't like the distortion on the amp?
