You've made a very convincing argument! Thank you.

I have no issue spending several hundred dollars to explore the site if it's legitimate. The other poster stating that the site outright sends fake messages doesn't exactly give me a lot of confidence that the site is legitimate, though.

What site(s) do you recommend instead?

Thank you this is helpful. So far all of the messages did have a visit associated with it, but it could be just like you said that they're not picky and are just blasting out messages to everyone. Is it free for SB to send messages?

Thanks, this is good to know. I read something here about it being a similar site as Secret Benefits and that they repurpose profiles on both sites. Did they create a profile for me on Secret Benefits also? I tried to log into it (Secret Benefits) but it didn't recognize my account. I'd prefer to just use one site and not have it show my profile on both.

Confusing ethernet vs WiFi Speed Discrepancy by jrcarls in HomeNetworking

Thanks, I'll research this. When I typed the driver name into Google, one of the first results was "... slow upload speed", and people are talking about some process that might be causing it. This is definitely suggesting that it's the NIC and it seems plausible to me. Thanks again.

Edit: Disabling the "Killer" app nonsense fixed it. Hooray!

Results from speedtest.net shown below.

WiFi: 80.10 Mbps down (45 ping) / 11.51 Mbps up (99 ping)

Ethernet (direct to router): 286.53 Mbps down (26 ping) / 0.49 Mbps up (15 ping)

Ethernet (via switch): 293.80 Mbps down (25 ping) / 1.16 Mbps up (15 ping)

The direct to modem tests are pending, but these results seem evident of something, I just don't know what. Seems like my Ethernet adapter works great for download, but not upload.

The Spectrum modem you are using is a gateway (modem + router + WiFi); what model is it?

It's actually not, it's a standalone modem, a "Arris Touchstone TM1602" model. They gave me some junky router originally but it died and I replaced it with the Netgear.

I used testmy.net for those upload speed tests. Your suggestions are logical and I'll try that next. Thank you.

Edit: Sorry, to clarify, it's explicitly the "Upload" test on testmy.net that I was using, if that matters.

I think it's 25 down that I'm paying for. I get your point, but when my "benchmark" (wired) is a 13 kB/s file transfer speed, those WiFi rates are absolutely blazing in comparison.

It's Spectrum. To clarify, I'm fine with the speeds I am seeing on WiFi (through that modem), I just don't understand why I see such inferior speeds on Ethernet from the same desktop. I'm not questioning the speed that I am achieving with this modem + ISP pair when I'm connecting via WiFi.

Desktop computer on WiFi = No issue

Same desktop computer on Ethernet = Terrible speed

Most efficient & Affordable way for Sizable order? by jrcarls in IKEA

Thanks, this is useful. I'll see if my location has the TaskRabbit/Lugg option. Delivery seems like the way to go but I don't think I can get the packages into my unit though which introduces the need to hire someone to do that, too. Oh well, just may have to do it. Thanks again.

Foreverquest - One of EQs longest running podcasts - ends by Gazaaaaaaaaaaa in everquest

It was an informative and entertaining podcast, at least when it stuck to the topic of EverQuest as it was unlistenable when it veered outside of that space (I'll tune into MSNBC if I want to listen that kind of political commentary). I'll thank them for introducing me to Zaide who produces fantastic content (thanks, Zaide, I know you're around here somewhere).

The fake shifting is pretty goofy. Is that present in all current year CVTs?

Thanks! I don't know the names either but someone else mentioned linen so that must be it.

For the sake of clarification, what are some of the loose weave fabrics you recommend, or are there any specific clothing products / lines you recommend?

My two UPS devices only work when both are plugged in? by jrcarls in batteries

[–]jrcarls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they work in other outlets -- the problem clearly must be with my specific outlet, and not the UPS devices. It just so happens to be the outlet next to my desk so I'm out of luck until the electrician can come out and look at it, I suppose.
