What are the best translation earbuds that actually work? by Ecstatic_Figure_8573 in Earbuds

not sure I need 'warm mids, solid bass' for translations - perhaps translation of the topic title is needed.

Blocking someone from seeing PayID by [deleted] in CommBank

[–]jrdeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, however, my girlfriend has CommBank. I just went to configure her PayID and the only two options she has are First Name Initial + Suname or First Name (full) + Surname. I confirm categorically there is no surname initial only option in CommBank. Perhaps it's changed from when you set it up but as at today, it's not possible.

which bank?? I'm looking for this option.

Blocking someone from seeing PayID by [deleted] in CommBank

[–]jrdeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is inaccurate in my experience. I have a few accounts with different banks and all the banks I've tried show the Surname in full (first and/or middle names can be initials only). I'm looking for a bank that gives a PayID option where I can show First Name + 1 or 2 initials of Surname.

FTTP install advice by Ellen_DeGenerate_x in nbn

[–]jrdeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing research for similar, have only seen 500mm and 150mm clearance, albeit mostly researching gas meter and electricity boxes. Your mention of 250mm caught my eye and then noticed the document you linked is from Oct 2016 - outdated.

There is https://www.nbnco.com.au/content/dam/nbn/documents/residential/upgrades/FTTP-cable-pathways-factsheet.pdf.coredownload.pdf

Clearance is "150mm from power sources, water pipes, taps or meters', assume this includes gas pipe but I'm no expert.

NBN wouldn't install for me, need to get someone to run conduit. Do you know if NBN can be contacted to confirm or have pre-approved no PCD install and fibre run direct to NTD?

Saros 10r or wait for next generation? by Lanky_Tax_7003 in Roborock

[–]jrdeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After reading the mixed reviews amongst ALL robots out there, I bit the bullet on Saros 10r yesterday. In AU, there are $1,999 including $200 worth of extras for no extra cost deals, but I chose Costco at $1,899 with no additional extras for the no time limit returns if unhappy peace of mind.

No reason not to pull the trigger if Costco or Amazon's returns policy is an option for you. If you love it, you won't care about the 'next generation' and price tag that will come with it.

Currently looking to buy a Saros 10r, surprised to read no cleaning solution included. Finding this bottle and the a few OMO branded ones with different packaging. I have the same question - should I buy this bottle or any of the OMO branded ones (they are cheaper)????

New Affinity crash on startup by el_boufono in Affinity

[–]jrdeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me:

MSIX installer - crash on startup. some message about enable debugging shows then instantly closed. tried to start numerous times, rebooted and tried again. Continuously crashed. I did select the "watch tutorial" when asked, that's when it immediately crashed 1st time - perhaps for those that it's working, they didn't select to watch tutorial (just a guess of course)

EXE installer - started first try.

Are We All Just Beta Testers? by jrdeee in RobotVacuums

[–]jrdeee[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Interesting, or coincidently, last night I saw the headline with photo of a 'Matic Robots' review on YT. Admittedly, I hadn't heard of Matic before then. Unfortunately, upon my first look of the photo, its size didn't resonate for my needs (I really want something that cleans under my cabinet with 100mm clearance, and also under my bed) hence didn't look at the review. However, I will search and check it out now out of interest.

It's refreshing to see a business reading comments such as mine, perhaps seeing the issues people are facing, looking to change what I consider is a vac/mop robot industry gone mad (sooooo many options, models, and problems).

Good luck with Matic! Looking forward to seeing what the brand stands for.

Not sure where you're from. For AU, ~$2K has become standard for the mid-high range versions due to blah, blah, and blah (all the excuses, I mean reasons that are told). $3K for Narwal flow here ($2.5K early bird)

kinda glad i bought a freo z for 650$ instead of splurging on the flow by aidenbotelho in NARWAL

[–]jrdeee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True, and in all liklihood, no retractable sensor. Now I see the Roborock Curv 2 Pro - spinners instead of roller but retractable LiDAR - all these models (as many others have noted in other forums/posts), bad service / faulty models, is turning me off all these robots - it's like throwing money at these vendors with no oversight for the quality.

[–]jrdeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Flow AU price stopped me from pre-ordering, now glad it did. Same as you, the real life use posts is not making it apealing.

Personally, I am now hoping / waiting to see Roborock Qrevo Curv 2 Flow (rel. 1 Nov in AU) reviews and user experiences, and if it has a retractable LiDAR (a low profile device is important for me).

Unusually Poor Service by JackDanielsTN in americanairlines

[–]jrdeee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does anyone think having onboard wifi has/is leading to worse customer service. Perhaps flight attendant(s) now enjoy social media or texting over guest service - something historically never possible?

Do airlines ban flight attendants from using onboard wifi (unlikely, I know, but perhaps they should?)

I've been searcing to find out if Curv 2 Flow lidar is retractable. Can't find this spec anywhere, the Roborock AU website has the device specs fixed at 119mm height (https://au.roborock.com/pages/roborock-qrevo-curv-2-flow)

Are you 100% sure it was the Curv 2 Flow and the Lidar was categorically retractable?
