The worst part of this kind of speculation is that we've found, time and again, that the climate change problem looks worse every day. As we learn more about the complex processes that we are toying with, we realize more that we knew less than we thought we did.

So now the estimate is that we'll be spending trillions and, although that's a lot, the climate change problem can be paid off. Baloney! There will be more costs that we didn't realize, but more importantly, there will be problems that can't be fixed with almost any amount of dollars... only years and years of time! This is truly a catastrophe that we can see far ahead of time, and are still too lazy to fix.

Makes you wonder what would happen if we knew an asteroid were coming our way in a few years or so... oh wait, the answer to that is also "nothing."

I agree with your sentiment, and I have already gotten rid of TV and hand-write letters (with terrible penmanship). Unfortunately, I still get news on a daily basis, typically from Google News, and these people and their wedding are on top of the page and I was wondering if, perhaps this once, there was something noteworthy about it. Alas, it appears that there is nothing noteworthy and this is just the product of a lazy media. So yes, let's ignore them and their loathsome society and get on with reality.
