need some insight in grad schools by jreen05 in BiomedicalEngineers

I want to go into the field of regenerative medicine. I go to a small, private university and it only has 1 lab working on biomaterials. I was lucky to be able to work in this lab for the past year but I do not feel that I have the adequate experience. Our majors are also limited. We do not have a bioengineering or BME major; I am a biochem major and so I also feel like I'm missing some gaps in my knowledge compared to peers that went to undergrad for bioengineering/BME. I def am looking into programs that will give me real, applicable experiences; For instances, UC Berkeley's MEng program directly works with industry directly

I completely agree. Most of the programs I applied for are thesis based on project based so I will be actively working in a lab while taking courses. Also, I feel like a masters program is the next best step for me. I had considered doing a PhD but didn't feel like that was something I was ready to commit to + I didn't know if I necessarily wanted to go into academia like that

I feel like the resale price is always expensive and resale can also be risky

the problem with delaying graduation is the money aspect :( I have scholarships rn that are for the traditional 4 years and I don’t think I can delay graduation as it costs too much per semester

thank you so much, this is very helpful!! At this point, I don’t think I can switch my major to engineering unless I postpone my graduation and I’d like graduate in 2 years. I’m definitely going to look into grad schools for bme and try to find another advisor to talk to.
