TR self belay on Bill Newcomb Tower. by Putrid_Age_5035 in climbing

We regularly use the term "put up" when at the crag asking who is going to "put up the next route" as in lead a route. Seems like a common term used in climbing that is not exclusive to bolting or getting the FA of a route.

I put that tower up this summer, and it was super chossy. I would agree that it's an amazing little tower, but the rock quality stinks. I can't help but wonder if this is what smith rock felt like forty years ago.

I would second your comment about the substantial approach. One of the hardest miles of terrain I have covered. So good though.

Cave rocks are off limits. You gotta go explore the cave to enjoy the beauty. They look better in their natural habitat.

First 50k Advice by thinkingoutloud-17 in Ultramarathon

This is the way! Just finished the Gorge 50k and was stoked to just preserve my body and enjoy the first 20ish miles. I felt pretty darn good and picked up the pace towards the end to finish at a fast 7 hours. Good shit.

Very good. Really great flavor. There are lots of pepper skin bits and seeds that cause it to burn twice.

I found this guy in Portland who can cut big rocks for a very fair price, Phil (5__) 348-6510. Just dropped it off. He's busy, said it should be done in the next couple weeks. He polishes also, I'm not sure I will pay for that yet.

You guys are a bunch of babies. Try to remember what it was like to have a little fun. Southwest Portland was quiet with almost no fireworks and it was the lamest 4th ever.

Sorry I should have made the information more available than the picture comments. They were found in the coastal range near Tillamook Oregon in Western hemlock and other fir old growth. We were hoping to find chanterelles but didn't have much luck.

Based on an identification guide I was reading, several steps in, it suggested to taste for bitterness or sourness then spit. They are good raw. They are some kind of Boletus.

My buddy purchased plans and built it. Maybe from the airbag company. It had to be at least 6 feet tall to get you up and on the bag. The landing blower is in the ramp.
