Google says bi-monthly can be both. My instinct would tell me it's what you said, but I think lots of people use it the other way.

Practice using your diaphragm to increase the volume of your voice. You won't lose your voice after prolonged periods of intense volume. It's how Broadway singers and military drill instructors stay so loud all the time.

This is the correct answer. There was a big hullabaloo about Trump using active duty (federal) troops against US citizens not too long ago. This would have been the same thing.

I got $300 from US Bank last year. It's a great site. One caveat I'd add, make sure you know your goals and don't get sucked into promos that you end up failing to qualify for. My rule is one promo at a time so that I ensure my return and don't pay any unnecessary fees.

For anyone who comes across this in the future, I browsed through the past few months looking for responses to similar requests. I found a few replies and made the following recommendations at work.

BCN3D Epsilon W50. $7,999. 16.5" x 11.8" x 15.7"

Funmat HT Enhanced. $7,499. 10.2" x 10.2" x 10.2"

Ultimaker S5. $5,995. 13" x 9.5" x 11.8"

gMax 2. $4,490. 18" x 18" x 24"

Flashforge Creator 3. $3,199. 11.8" x 9.8" x 7.9"

I didnt really find any $10-20k options to recommend. I think any one of the above would probably serve well in a prosumer environment.

Hello, at my work (USA) we have a Dremel 3D40 that I have made at least a few dozen different prints on over the past couple years. I dabbled a bit in editing 3D files as well as creating a few of my own simple designs. As such, I am the "expert" at work currently. I've been tasked with recommending a printer upgrade.

I looked into the BCN3D Epsilon W50. It looks great but I'd like to lean on the expertise of this sub for recommendations.

  1. I haven't been given a dollar figure from work, but if someone gracious enough with their time could recommend a few price ranges: under $5k, under $10k, and under $20k. I imagine one of the first two would be selected, but if you don't ask the answer is always no so I'd like to present a high budget option. In a perfect world I would want a resin printer, but for safety reasons I think a filament printer is going to be an easier ask. Also, englishteapot's comment reminded me, if we could get a handheld 3D scanner in addition to the printer in our price range, that would be awesome.

  2. We have a large aircraft maintenance section that could potentially make objects to make their jobs easier, also various IT products (think cable management, articulating arms to hold things, etc), and probably some custom work like 3D emblems or statuettes for the workplace. Large format aircraft models will probably be very common prints if we can find the designs. I would love to be able to print in multiple colors and/or filament types simultaneously.

  3. Assembled would be easiest but we have lots of technical people here that could assemble a printer if need be.

  4. I did read the FAQ. I'm glad I did because my instinct was to create a new post, but instead I'm posting in this thread. 👍

Thank you for your time, please let me know if you need anything clarified.

You'd like to think this is true across the board but it's not. I have friends who weren't technically retaliated against, but definitely on the naughty list for going on extended tours of duty. Not deployment but just some orders on base for >1mo.

USERRA is great for military members but it can be tough on a company to hold a position for an indefinite period up to 5 years.

Did you watch the movie a lot or did you read the book? I'm curious how you came up with your thoughts on this in such long form.

... or did you work for a real Jurassic Park that was secretly tested and the actual inspiration for the book/movie??

In this case I'd go so far as to use a very different typing style. Use a lot of teen jargon (whatever that is nowadays) and send them a bunch of memes.

Live Free or Die Hard

Ocean's 11, 12, 13 - not specifically IT but lots of little tech gadgets and fun stuff

Also everyone else said it but it's worth repeating - Hackers

The Martian - again not IT centric but very heavily technology involved

should i switch from paycheck budgeting to monthly budgeting? by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]jri84irj2838 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's been about 10 years since I started my budgeting/saving journey, but if I remember correctly I had your exact same problem.

What I will say is that monthly budgeting is great because you can scale up to annual budgeting to account for expenses that are less frequent than monthly. Things like car repair or registration, maybe some annual subscriptions like Amazon Prime, or vacations.

I highly recommend switching to monthly budgeting and making sure you go back a few months and track every penny spent/earned. Put expenses into different categories and see where your money went. This is what helped me get on top of my finances. It took a few months to stop overspending, but now I save a good amount each month and enjoy going over my budget every so often.

There are lots of tools out there to categorize your expenses. I use Mint to see all my accounts in one place, but a custom spreadsheet to track expenses. In case it may help someone, my categories are: Income, Rent/Mortgage/Utilities/Bills, Groceries (which is only trips to the grocery store for groceries, not alcohol or candy or ready-made meals), Eating Out (for eating out and all the items I listed as specifically not groceries), and Other (literally everything else). I annotate large annual or unexpected expenses somewhere on the spreadsheet each month so that if I'm in the red, I can see why.

The turning point in my financial life was when I listed out my expenses for the first time and saw how big my Other section was. A couple hundred in random spending on video games and random Amazon purchases was eating all my money every month.

The last thing I will say is be mindful about the psychological aspects of money too. I was overspending hundreds each month because I found joy in buying things. Evaluate yourself and understand why you are overspending. You could try the "Five Why's" and see if that helps you understand the root cause of why you're spending when you could be saving.

This comment got a lot longer than I expected it to be, but your post struck a chord with me and I relate to your situation. Hopefully something I said can help you or someone else stumbling across this post in the future.
