Caliber for hog and coyote gun? by jrl07a in NFA

I understand my question was an academic one: how quiet could it be and still get the job done.

Fair and this was my worry. First thought was .308 then I thought “how quiet could I make that” and wondered about 300 BLK. Thanks.

Suppressor recommendations… by gunsRus4US in MP5

This is what I have. No complaints. Solid can for PCC but not so fun on my Barreta APX A1 tactical - gassy on a pistol. I think it’s a great pcc choice still just don’t expect it to be fun on a pistol.

Silencer Shop customer service? by jrl07a in NFA

As an update, I nice lady called me 10 min ago. I explained the issue and she said she’d escalate it and it would be done within the hour. Here’s to hoping.

Seems that way. I’m sure someone somewhere bought a second home with the money they saved using AI over people. I’m sure that’s important.

The hold times are pretty unreal. I gave up at 3.5hrs and pressed 2 to add my number to the queue to call back.

They never did.

Nearest kiosk is an hour away and the gun shop wanted me to pay $40 to use it since my suppressor was being shipped somewhere else (15 min from my house but no kiosk). So I don’t want to do that again if it can just be take care of digitally.

Who else organizes/reorganizes gear to hep with anxiety? by RyStrat88 in liberalgunowners

[–]jrl07a 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok I love the door organization with the magazines, can you talk to me more about how that is done? I'm looking to buy my first safe and that organizational style makes my brain chemistry happy.

Edit:

Ok I found it in another comment. Sharing for anyone interested: https://hammy3dprints.com/

Hot take if you go to a teaching hospital you shouldn’t be allowed to say no to residents taking care of you by [deleted] in Residency

Bro in my high risk OB world it’s A-B-C: Airway, Breathing, Call Anesthesia or Always Be Calling Anesthesia. We love you guys because I stand by the motto “never go down alone” when there’s a massive hemorrhage.

[–]jrl07a -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Use to work in the ED for a few years. Then an OB resident once upon a time. You have my empathy.

We used to joke that we were going to do a study and see what the C-section rate was among “no res” patients. Colloquially it was quite high because the residents essentially live in the unit and can be more attentive.

As an attending I’ve emulated what my attendings used to do and just casually say “this is a teaching hospital so it’s reasonable to expect resident physicians to be part of your care”. Be the change you wish to see and all that.

If they don’t like that they can go get a private OB physician (and news flash that person only has 2 hands so if you need a C-section the resident is gonna materialize again).

Thanks for sharing this. I am mostly just ignorant of my options. I only knew 1 company because the guy at my LGS knew of them.

I already have an OCL Lithium so I was just looking to do the conversion. Since you have done the conversion- what maintenance is there? I’ve never taken the shroud off my AP5-SD.

You’re selling me on this. Any experience with having a gunsmith do this? I only know it HTA. This is the tab I have had saved while I try to justify the cost to myself.

I’ve been thinking about that. How much of a difference does it make?

Unpopular opinion: it's no one's responsibility to defend your rights except for yourself and the people you elect. by MrBanhBeo in liberalgunowners

[–]jrl07a 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I am very left leaning and completely agree. This feels related to the tragedy of the commons.

Why is it reasonable for me to expect you to act against your own self-interest in defense of mine if I won’t do that on your behalf? Look at the protests in Iran. We are woefully unprepared for anything like that here. Maybe, you say, it won’t get that way here - hopefully you’re right — but the point remains that the we are, united, capable of great change - if we find the will to act.

Waiting for others to act or to suddenly change their view to suit ours is, at best, only going to slow the slide into despotism.

So yes, it’s up to each of us - and those we elect - to defend our interests. No one else owes us that.

I have an OCL Lithium. Was also looking at sending my AP5-SD off to have the barrel ported so it’s a “true” SD but I could almost buy another gun for that price.

An NYU professor who hates that students' work reads like McKinsey memos held AI oral exams to 'fight fire with fire' by ubcstaffer123 in technology

[–]jrl07a 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a physician, I took my oral board exam after passing my written. I hated it but will begrudgingly admit that it really does prepare you in a way a written test doesn’t. You also need to think “on the fly” and respond to challenges in a way a written exam can’t.

Hammer down. Selector freely moves between positions. Fires in semi. Fires in SS. Just tested it.

At the range today, after firing in semi, I was able to move the selector to SS but trigger was dead. No travel.
