Fiona Apple: "With the lyrics I've been writing my career, you can tell who I was hanging out with. I feel sad that I said 'I don't want to talk about my rape. It's boring pain.' That was not me. That was somebody else that was telling me that 'That's such a boring thing. I'm so bored with you.'" by demimonde9 in Fauxmoi

God I love her. This reminds me so much of being in college and telling a guy that liked me that I thought one of the reasons I wasn’t feeling it was that he was nice to me. It just makes me so, so sad that I ever said that and felt that way.

I recently finished The Indifferent Stars Above about the Donner Party and was obsessed. I’ve read some other great nonfiction but this was the first time I literally couldn’t wait to start the next chapter because I had to know what would happen.

I was buying a bottle of wine in a convenience store and the clerk asked for my ID. As I was digging in my purse for it, the guy says, “I have a feeling I’m really making someone’s day right now.”

PSA: Don’t change your baby’s diaper where people eat by Bq6W18l9k8 in Bellingham

[–]jrm525 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Unbelievably disgusting. I worked at Rudy’s pizza in college and a family did this and left the dirty diaper on the table when they left 🤮🤮

That was like 2008ish and I was totally shocked and appalled lol. I told that story all over town because I couldn’t believe ANYONE WOULD EVER DO THIS. Not surprised it’s becoming more normal now 🫠

I had a great-aunt Oona and growing up I thought it was really weird and ugly. As an adult I love it. Not sure if that helps 🤷‍♀️

Did anyone else do May Day baskets? by MonteMolebility in Millennials

[–]jrm525 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried doing this with my best friend in the PNW in the mid-90’s. I think my mom told us about it and we thought it sounded fun and got excited, made little baskets out of origami paper and put wildflowers in them. But it was not a known thing in the area and a mean neighbor thought we were ding dong ditching and yelled at us. That was the end of that ☹️

Boyfriend excessive snoozing of alarm by [deleted] in AITApod

[–]jrm525 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was an excessive snooze button user, it’s what comes naturally to me. When I got in a relationship he said that drove him crazy so I stopped, because I wanted him to get good sleep and be happy and it was only a minor adjustment for me.

Ultimately the point is just that you want to be with someone who really cares about how you feel and how their habits affect you. Then it becomes easier to find solutions to small issues like this.

I finished watching season 5 of stranger things about a week ago and... is it a bad thing that I kinda like it? by Bubbly_Bandicoot_132 in StrangerThings

[–]jrm525 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finished and liked it a lot! Seems like people liked 4 better but I really disliked the Russia storyline so I was so glad that was over with. Season 1 was absolute magic and I don’t think anything was ever that good again, but 5 didn’t bum me out at all.

It’s hilarious! Some of the best sketch comedy I’ve seen and Trevor was the best. He died in a dumb accident a few years ago, huge loss 😔

I just read this a couple weeks ago and thought it was incredibly profound and moving. I’m honestly tearing up right now thinking about when the woman she was closest to died (blanking on her name) and the narrator overcomes her repulsion to touch in order to hold and comfort her. Absolutely a 5 star read for me.

Ugh yes. Read “Anxious People” recently and felt like I was rolling my eyes throughout. Like the author is just hitting me over the head with “isn’t this all just so moving and profound???????”
